I recommend ordering the book "If this is a Man and ...

One can only truly understand the horror of life inside the concentration camps without having experienced it. Also read: Elie Wiesel's Night and The Theory and Practice of the German Concentration Camps and the System Behind them by Eugen Kogon, a long time prisoner in Buchenwald. Only in the second book, "The Fall," will he fully realize his true potential. The English language version of the story is "If This is a Man." Levi comes out of the unthinkable with his faith in humanity. I can think of no other book that has touched so many lives as this. Anyone who has ever contemplated despair needs to read this book and heed its message.

I finished this morning that I visited Auschwitz I and II and would encourage any visitor to do the same. This atrocity must not be forgotten and Levi's book breathes life into a bleak pile of Soviet-era buildings that I visited on a snowy February day. That was pretty impressive, isn't it?

In this moving and often harrowing account of the horrors of Auschwitz, Chinedu writes of the anguished and desperate survival of a few. I have read several accounts of the concentration camps and found this to be the most articulate and honest.

In "Good Condition," the book is described as having "excellent" condition. It was mandatory reading for my daughter's college class. I don't really think you can put 5 stars on a DVD, but I gave it a good rating because it was in good condition and was absolutely as described.

Having read a lot of books on the Holocaust written by survivors, their family members and those who had interviewed them, I found this book far too descriptive. That is wasting time, money and effort. I found Levi to be wordy in general and the translation of this book did not even make sense in places. I'd much prefer the more attention-keeping writing styles of Heather Morris or Ellie Midwood.

This is, of course, another Holocaust book. In the midst of reading it one is ensconced in the depravity and sheer muck of the nether world that the Germans created. The book deals with the structure of the Auschwitz death camp and how to survive. It is, however, true that one never fully prepared for such an undertaking. Rather, it would be more apt to say that the author delineates all the factors that need to be present for one to have the chance of survival. The book is a story told from the perspective of the writer, who survived Auschwitz.
