Martin's The Sage's Tao Te Ching Ancient Advice for the Second Half of Life is a series of 81 short meditations inspired by a Chinese wisdom text. Note that the original text of the Te Ching was written by Lao Tzu. Rather, it's a series of short meditations on age-ing and sage-ing. Take your time with each, enjoy it. The author's wisdom is joined with Lao Tzu's. The second meditation, "Ten Days of Meditation," was illustrated by Hank Tusinski. The second most popular book is "The Age of Enlightenment" by Thomas Jefferson, "most of these are excellent and go well with the text."

   Can’t believe it took me so long to become aware of this writing, easy to read
Each page is like a story, you can read it, and come back again and again. It should be mandatory for elementary and middle school students to read. Imagine, for example, what a world would be like if the inhabitants of this world were happier, more content, and a kinder human race.

He doesn't dictate the ultimate answer. A wisdom seeking person is able to follow his own advice in a world where many of us are lost, because he has gained some insight. That's the reason theSage can dance with the stars. It's a nice one.

The Ancient Advice for the Second Half of Life is a series of 81 short meditations. Don't expect a translation of the original text by Lao Tzu. A series of short meditations on age- ing are in the book. The meditations should be read slowly. Take your time with each one and savor it. I was stimulated by just one or two of these at a time, and it was enough to make me think about growing older. The combination of the author's wisdom and Lao Tzu's is potent. Hank Tusinski illustrations are used in each meditation. Most of these are good and work well with the text.

   Words for a less discussed stage of life
In our society we celebrate our youth and young adult lives, but don't recognize aging as a failure. We are fairly unimaginative. The fading of youthful skin is a signal to get out of the way and hide the hard won lines andwrinkle so as not to remind the younger ones of their futures. We don't fully appreciate the wealth that is within the minds and hearts of older people. As much as we care about childhood, youth and working adulthood, we need to look forward to age as well. The point of our life's journey is to have the luxury of being old. Imortant, possessions in old age become irrelevant to what really matters. What used to occupy us fades away. The long view makes me happy.

I wish I could give a star rating. I have read beautiful versions of the TTC, and this is so upsetting. The wording is almost nonsense, like the Web site was plugged into Google Translate. It's the least I can imagine to create a sloppy Taoist translation, Raymond said. In hindsight, I think it is fitting that I am very dissatisfied with this book, since I did not read the negative reviews before purchasing. The Tao works in mysterious ways, Raymond said.
