I just finished Mike Ritland's team - dog. I have been breeding and raising dogs for years and I have taken back some epic training failures so that I have read a lot of training books. Most of them are very common and some of them use techniques that are no-longer-recommended. I spent my time reading it because it is very dense in good material. Mike shat it into easily digestible bits. By many points, the basic training took on a new level. And there were things I wanted to know but had never explored my instinctual response to dog tells for use. It is just come out in paperback, so that it is roughly half the cost of the book I bought. But mine will have a lifelong home on my shelf of recommended books for my clients.

This book will show you how the relationship with your canine companion should look.
It is a deeper look at how to interact with your dog and what a relationship with your dog should look like. This was a great asset in increasing productivity in the time spent on our packs with the newest addition.

Train yourself to train your dog
An easy to read read book with lots of real life examples. Focuses on more than obedience training. Extensively covers how the owner needs to train and communicate with the dog properly. Obviously, you will not learn everything in this one book, but it will teach you enough to make owning a dog a positive experience for both you and the dog.

Don't waste your time and money
This book is not worth reading. It is lacking in any real substance and only rehashes decades old training methods. Most of the book is spent talking about how awesome the Navy SEALs are and that the Navy SEALs are better than a thousand dollars and a few hours of time to read what is essential a short blog post is all this book : Bond with your dog. Use a klicker3 to get a soundtrack. Whip out of Exercise Your Dog and train it again. Groom '', is your doggie. This week pay attention to your pup's physical health, where you go. That is the whole book with Navy SEALs thrown for good measure in every other paragraph.

   Excellent read for dog owner
I enjoyed this book by Mike Ritland thoroughly. Easy to understand with great details that help explain step by step everything. Don 't skip chapters, as Mike builds carefully from the first chapter to the last. No filler is included in this book, which is a joy to see. Mike shows a no-nonsense approach to writing in this book and leaves the dog owner anticipating the journey ahead with his or his new companion. Book is excellent!
