Book Overview

That Is Not a Good Idea is a hilarious, interactive picture book from bestselling author and illustrator Mo Willems, the creator of books like Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, the Knuffle Bunny series, the Elephant and Piggie series, Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs, and many other new classics.

Inspired by the evil villains and innocent damsels of silent movies, Willems tells the tale of a hungry fox who invites a plump goose to dinner. As with the beloved Pigeon books, kids will be calling out the signature refrain and begging for repeated readings. The funny details in the full-color illustrations by three-time Caldecott Honoree Mo Willems will bring nonstop laughter to story time.

   Mo is Great!
We have been reading this book every night since we got it. The book is great and has a funny refrain, but my 3 yr old doesn't get the plot twist, but it plays out well. I would love to have all of the Mo books, but he is so prolific that I am going to try to keep up with the best elephant and pig books. I like him even more now that he has a video. Richard is the man.

   Instant classic
It's hard to narrow it down, but this is one of our favorites by Mo Willems. This is our second purchase of this and we love it so much that we buy it for gifts now! A cute story, great illustrations, and a twist ending makes my kids laugh every time.

   Another hit for Mo Willems!
I loved the story. It is a great read for all ages. The chick warned you that it was a bad idea. I retired as a children's librarian and was looking for some good read aloud's for my son in law to read to his kindergarten classes. One of the librarians recommended a lot of books and this one is the favorite. My daughter in law teaches second grade and I bought her a second copy.

   Great condition! Fast arrival
We read this as a library book. There was a surprise ending. We needed a copy to keep. The quality of the book was described, and it was very readable. Even though the surprise element is a known thing, they love rereading it. I will definitely order from this seller.

Creepy and not a good message for kids!
Terrible, frightening message. My daughter loves to read. This entire book was not a good idea. It was bought online trusting in Mr. Willems. We aren't keeping it because it's too late to return. We aren't giving it to other kids to read. It is very bad.

The children are taught about the dangers of going somewhere with a stranger and this story has a funny twist.

This is a great book - for kids as well as for adults!
Before we read the whole book, my 4 year old grandson and I talked about what we thought was going to happen, but we didn't understand what was really happening. It was fun to discuss emotions, feelings, and laughing about it. We get more into character with those in the book when we read it loud. It was a lot of fun. If you' re not sure, you can head to your local library and find this or any of the books by Mo Willems. They' re great gifts for babies, little ones, toddlers and beyond.

This is my 4 year olds favorite Mo Willems book
You think it's a story? My 4 year old loves this book. Some children may not enjoy it as much as others. This may not be for your child if they are easily scared. It's not really scary but it's a little bit dark in a funny way.

we love love love Mo Willems
We love Mo Willems. My child can listen to any of his books over and over again. Mo sprinkles jokes that are intended for adults too, just to make them more engaging, because they are so well written. My daughter's teachers always comment on how engaged the kids were while listening to these books when she takes them to her child care to share with friends.
