Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this multi-million-copy New York Times bestseller is the definitive manual for anyone interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control - from the author of The Laws of Human Nature.

In the book that People magazine proclaimed beguiling and fascinating, Robert Greene and Joost Elffers have distilled three thousand years of the history of power into 48 essential laws by drawing from the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, and Carl Von Clausewitz and also from the lives of figures ranging from Henry Kissinger to P.T. Barnum.

Some laws teach the need for prudence (Law 1: Never Outshine the Master), others teach the value of confidence (Law 28: Enter Action with Boldness), and many recommend absolute self-preservation (Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally). Every law, though, has one thing in common: an interest in total domination. In a bold and arresting two-color package, The 48 Laws of Power is ideal whether your aim is conquest, self-defense, or simply to understand the rules of the game.

This book teaches you how to work with people not against them. For those using this book with good intentions it is an instrumental tool not only in business but personal life as well. Can’t recommend it enough. Love his other works too.

Trash plain and simple. Anyone can write a guide to the universe LOL
To waste one more moment of my life with this would be an absolute sin. I went online and saw the author talk like he was from 200 years ago, as if it were yesterday. If you take any advice from this book, you will lose friends and much more. This book is embraced by the right a good portion of the time. Just throwing it away.

I tried to process with the third chapter and to waste 1 more moment of my lifetime with this would be an absolute sin. I've also seen and heard the author talk about life in ancient times in Reddit AMAs, as if it were 200 years ago. Absolutely no matter how good your diet, you will find that it will kill your friends and much more. This book is embraced by the right a good portion of the time. He threw it away, Swisher said.

Be good (10 laws), be bad (48 laws), conclusion - must be better at being bad.
When all is done, no one else's, you become the animal that you feed, and it's yours to deal with. The book gave me some explanations of the behavior of other people. I will seek out those who nurture and build things into existence from what previously did not seem apparent if power is about stealing and obtaining something. The real wealth is there. Where are the power seekers going to get their wealth if someone isn't nurturing it?

You become the animal that you feed, and it's yours alone to deal with when all is done, no one else's. The book did give me some explanations of the behavior of others that make a lot of sense, Raymond said. If power is about stealing and obtaining something you don't have, undermining others, I'm going to seek out those who nurture and build things into existence from what previously did not seem apparent. There is a lot more wealth than people realize. Where are the power seekers going to obtain their wealth after they have mined all the human capital if someone isn't nurturing it somewhere?

   The Devil’s Handbook
13 of the 48 rules have been completed by me. I need to knock the innocence and naveté out of my system so I will read the rest of it. It provides a map for personal power and achievement. I am not religious. I am not a believer. This book feels good. The subtitle should be, "The Devil's Handbook". The book looks at how one should act if their only consideration is themselves. It gives instruction that others are only tools for the reader. Others will be manipulated and used. We will done so far as that appears to be the goal of the book. I can not shake the feeling that my soul is being compromised by reading this. I think a book that would be an antithesis of this book would be called, "HONOR and INTEGRITY".

   The Devil’s Handbook
I have only managed 13 of 48 rules so far. I plan to read the rest of it because I need to knock the innocence and naveté out of my system. It is an excellent map for the attainment of personal power and "achievement." I am not religious. I am not an unbeliever. It's a book that feels like it was written yesterday. As the book's subtitle suggests, it should be "The Devil's Handbook." The book argues that one should act if one’s only consideration is the “Self”. The book argues that other than the reader's self-actualization, there is no other tool for the reader's self-actualization. Some are manipulated and used. As that appears to be the goal of the book, we'll do so far. But I can't shake the great discomfort I get from reading this, as if my soul is being compromised. I believe a book that would be that antithesis of this book would be entitled, "HONOR and INTEGRITY."

This book has many things for you to enjoy. Every politician has read this book because they are right on the money. This book will make you rethink your life. Is it a good idea to sacrifice your morals? Should you become the person you hate but secretly want to be? If you want to read this bad boy, you should. For sure, it's a thicc one. And it will be hard to understand. It will be worth it.

I know for a probable fact that every politician has read this book because they are right on the money, Mr. Rule told the judge. What do you think of it? You know you hate the person you hated but secretly wanted to be a part of that group. If you want these things, you must read this book. But it will get confusing, and I don't blame Microsoft. It will be worth it, Mr. Rule told the judge.

   real power doesn’t use abuse
I threw it away because I realized the author encourages you to be deceptive. There are 48 laws of abuse and how to accumulate bad karma. It's great!
