   Happy to see my school require this!
I give it four stars because I did not see them glued to the book and reading it cover to cover. It is, however, great advice for children and has written in their language. They happened to be reading it when my husband and I announced that we were divorcing, I found one of the boys in his bed reading it that night with a few tears in his eyes, and it helped us start a conversation.

   Recommend for teens
Purchased a copy for a friend, whose 15-year-old son makes some questionable choices. Time will tell if the book works for him, but after skimming a few chapters and digging into a few more in-depth, this book will be on our preteen must-read list. This book is not geared specifically towards troubled teens, and I feel that the advice is pertinent to every teen. Helps kids to step back and see a bigger perspective without being degrading or preachy.

   Common knowledge.
The book was new, but when I spoke to my teen about it, they said there was nothing well written there. There was not much to make them think. It is all common knowledge that they already have learned. This might have a better impact on teens who do not have parents in their life who tell them to not smoke marijuana, not to do drugs, and get their homework done.
