There is no way to describe the impact that this book had on me. Our pool team studied this book in our early days of competition and was a huge contributor to our interest and our skill level. Even when you think you know the shot described, this book offers a more detailed explanation that leads you to a higher level. Almost every young player who shows interest in our league has been given this book as an inspiration. I can 't recommend it more strongly.

Meaningfully outdated...
Derived From Web , May 13, 2022
This nearly 40 year old book has some useful information in it, but much of the info is significantly dated. When they published the book, they made no attempt to edit the many references in the verbiage to images on the sides. Much of the verbiage refers to images that are not mentioned where they are located. Around there are also lots of good pool books. I would save your money on this one!

Learn from a Legendary Champion!
Derived From Web , Jul 18, 2019
When a person receives face-to-face lessons, the instructor holds some knowledge back, but not Mr Martin. He has also written his instructions in perfect sequential order. I have already studied and implemented the first few shots and my game has only improved. I would like to thank Mr. Martin for this written path to a better pool.

Required reading for every pool player ever!
Derived From Web , Mar 28, 2019
This is the book to understand if you want to get better at the pool. It is the only book that I recommend to any pool player, no matter the skill level. The reason I had to buy this was because I gave my original copy away to someone who really needed it. I mean that they really needed it!

I love this book, have read it several times and often use it for reference. The table of contents allows me to quickly refer back to specific shots I have trouble with or need to review. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in improving their pool game, whether it is for casual or league play.

How to Think before you shoot...
Derived From Web , Aug 5, 2017
For many years I have been an occaisional for fun players, other than hints from other players. It took me only an hour of merely flipping through the book to immediately improve my game. With just a few of the concepts presented in my head, I learned to see so many more possible shots when I look at what I have to work with. This was my first book on Pool, I found it easy to learn, has drawings that show how to see the shots and set them. It will keep me busy for a long time, I don 't think you would be disappointed if it was your first book at least, I think it has all the basic essentials one needs to be familiar with in order to be a good player.

Book is OK. Printer did lousy job.
Derived From Web , Aug 5, 2017
The book is heavily dependent on the illustrations, which appear on almost every page. The idea is that the cue ball is filled by a circle outline, the object ball by the same sized circle, but in black and other balls are represented in gray. The problem with my book at least is that the gray is so dark that it looks black. You can't tell the object ball from the others, making some illustrations difficult to use, if not worthless.
