   Antiquated Language Makes it Unreadable
I was intrigued by the title and decided to read it. " And Then There Were None" was the only Agatha Christie book I have ever read. The book, " The ABC Murders", was very difficult to read. The constant use of French phrases in Poirot's dialogue was very annoying. The language is very old and seems like it was written in Victorian times. Nobody talks that way anymore. Shakespearean plays have an archaic dialogue, sentence structure, and vocabulary. This one of Agatha Christie's books is approaching that level of language problems. This book isn't relevant to us in the 21 st century. Back in the 1920s and 1930s, it was conceived and born, along with its outdated and confusing language.

   A Unique Christie Mystery Success
Agatha Christie's fans and critics consider The ABC Murders to be one of her best mystery novels. Poirot often faces mysteries with a limited number of suspects. Murder on the Orient Express is an example. Poirot has the whole of England or the British Isles as possible suspects. Maybe even an American or Canadian is the serial killer. First- time readers will be delighted with her surprise denouement of the plot. Anyone with a fascination for train travel will find this novel enjoyable to read. The ABC Murders show an emphasis on psychology in the search for the good folks vs. a cunning antagonist. This was a unique mystery that was written a long time ago.

   Entertaining Detective Novel Featuring Super Sleuth Hercule Poirot
Agatha Christie's The ABC Murders isn't much of a mystery as she gives away the identity of the culprit relatively early in the story, but she still manages to pull off some surprises and leave you guessing until the end. A really brilliant and innovative detective story that must have influenced other novels in the genre, particularly the ones about serial killers, which have become a whole genre in themselves. The character of Hercules Porot is always enjoyable. I' ve only read a few of Christie's novels and the last one I read was many years ago, so I'm hardly an expert. I' ve only read the Poirot novels. One of the better ones I' ve read was this one. Captain Hastings is a great foil for him.
