Book Overview

In the first book of the Alien Next Door series, an alien boy named Zeke tries to fit in and adjust to life on Earth, while a classmate, Harris, suspects that Zeke might not be quite what he claims to be.

Zeke the alien is on his way to his first day of school, feeling down because he has to start over again on a new planet, as his scientist parents constantly move to wherever their research takes them. When he gets to school, no one seems to notice anything strange or different about him except Harris, a kid obsessed with science fiction and aliens. Harris sees Zeke doing extraordinary things but can't convince anyone, least of all his best friend, Roxy, that Zeke might be an alien. Roxy just thinks Harris is jealous that she's becoming friends with Zeke. But when Roxy invites Zeke over to Harris's house, will Harris find a way to prove that he's right?

   Great why no colorful illustrations?
My 4 yr old loves to read this book. He read 3 pages, while I read 1 page until we've read an entire chapter each night. My son loves the story and is an easy read with some challenging words for him to improve his decoding skills. I really wish the illustrations were colorized.

   Fun
Capturing in the new kid fitting idea, Newton dies a great job of inviting a new world and having the neighbor kid try and catch the alien next door.

   Easy read. Great story.
My second school student LOVES this series! She borrowed one of the books from her school and asked me to buy the whole set. It's such an easy read : we can end a book in a few nights and she never wants me to stop!

   Great book
I started reading chapter books for my first 5 years old, when this was recommended by the school. She loved it, its has a couple of pictures, no color, but the story is really funny.

A great read! First of a series but worth getting hooked!
My 6 year old loved it and we are now reading the second. A new look at what it is like to be an “outsider” and fun in town. I like that this book has diversity, but does not call attention to it, just lets the kids be kids and parents are parents. I really recommend this read! '' Good conversation starter, fun, funny, and a quick, fun conversation starter.

Easy to read for 1st grader
He finished it in one sitting, which he does never. It is easy enough to read for first graders like my son.
