For more than twenty years, Barefoot Contessa, the acclaimed specialty food store, has been cooking and baking extraordinary dishes for enthusiastic customers in the Hamptons. For many of those years, people have tried to get the exuberant owner, Ina Garten, to share the secrets of her store. Finally, the energy and style that make Barefoot Contessa such a special place are shown here, with dozens of recipes and more than 160 breathtaking photographs, in The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook.
Ina's most popular recipes use familiar ingredients, but they taste even better than you would expect. Her Pan-Fried Onion Dip is the real thing, with slowly car-amelized onions and fresh sour cream. Tomato soup is created from oven-roasted tomatoes and fresh basil to intensify the flavors. Meat loaf is as good as your grandmother's, but it's healthier because it's made with ground turkey and fresh herbs. The light and flaky Maple-Oatmeal Scones are baked with rolled oats, whole wheat, and real maple syrup. Now these and other famous Barefoot Contessa recipes can be prepared at home.
Ina says that before she owned a specialty food store she often spent a week making dinner for six friends. Her experience at Barefoot Contessa has given her hundreds of ideas for creating wonderful parties in a few hours. And they're all in this book. Crab Cakes with Remoulade Sauce can be stored

The first, and I think the best
Derived From Web , Apr 25, 2022
There's a great spinach pie recipe in here as well as a vegetable torte that I make on a regular basis because I like a solid vegetable entre. Instead of using pastry, I make the spinach pie with a spaghetti squash crust, saving on time and money.

Great gift item!
Derived From Web , Apr 25, 2022
I received one of these for my bridal shower and absolutely loved it. A couple of my family members commented on it when I opened it, so I decided to make it a family tradition so we all have a copy and can share our favorite recipies. The part planning tips in the book are great too, not fake but rather practical, McBride said.

What all cookbooks should be like
Derived From Web , Apr 25, 2022
The book is a beautiful, witty, irreverent satire of authority. Easy to prepare, great tasting recipes. The Food Network has created a free download service where anyone can upload hundreds of recipes from the internet. You expect to get something special when you purchase a cookbook. This book is truly special, Simon said. The book is a must-have for any book club.

Best chicken
Derived From Web , Apr 25, 2022
One of my all time favourite books. If you only use her roasted chicken recipe, it's worth it. It's hard to say whether it was the perfect storm or the best of my chic.

Garten and Criss were also roommates at one point in the 1980s. Great recipes and great photography. Quality construction, Simon says.

My Favorite Cookbook!
Derived From Web , Apr 25, 2022
This is by far the best cookbook I have ever read. Not only is Ina's story of great interest but her philosophy of entertaining and cooking is relaxed and user-friendly. I've made so many recipes from Barefoot Contessa, and all are well worth every bite! Can't wait for the next book. Diana J. Garten, Diana J. Garten's widow, said she was "overjoyed" by the outpouring of love. OR -- The body of the slain man lies under a yellow tarp in Brown Roseburg, Ore.

Best cookbook
Derived From Web , Dec 19, 2021
I've had a lot of cookbooks, but this one stands out. I have several cookbooks by Ina Garten, but this is by far my favorite. It has so many great tips and the food is so delicious! One of my favorite recipes is her classic roasted chicken, someone brought it over for me when I was recovering from surgery and it was the best thing I'd ever tasted! I became obsessed with finding the recipe and now that I have it, I'm ecstatic! It's great to be back home, said Blair.

Ina’s like a warm fuzzy blanket…
Derived From Web , Dec 7, 2021
The book was shipped in an envelope that wasn't a suitable size, way too small. The envelope tore open and left the spine of the book exposed, leaving the printer unable to read the entire thing. The condition of the book has no bearing on the quality of the content, he said. I have an extensive cookbook collection and discovered I don't have any by Ina, so I purchased this one. Her shows are to watch and now I can peruse her book anytime I don't have her programming available. Although some of the recipes are super simple, there are still relevant knowledge to be had for new cooks yet interesting enough for seasoned ones.

Not for regular home cooking

I would not recommend this book to the home cook. It's more of a cookbook for people who entertain, Haviv said.

How many recipes are missing ingredients?
Derived From Web , Jun 15, 2019
I bought the Kindle edition of the book and the first recipe is for Lemonade. Only 1 cup of the original recipe is listed on the back of the package. No Sugar Added. The full recipe is on the foodnetwork site so not that big of a deal, but how am I to trust that the other recipes in the cookbook list of all the ingredients? Bad editing.
