   Truly classic children's stories
Stan and Jan Berenstain's stories were favorites of mine when I was a kid, and now I use them often, whether for reading to young children or teaching English to older children and adults. They are also full of educational content. They give guidelines for social interaction in a way that's not patronizing, puerile, or pedantic. The problem of managing our time with respect to menial tasks is addressed in 'The Trouble With Chores', but it focuses on a family approach to the problem. The book was published late in the Bears series when the family includes the baby sister of Brother and Sister bear.

   Start a conversation with you child
The Berenstein Bears books are great. They are a good starting point for a conversation. Don't look to these books for answers to your problem. They are not meant for that. When Mama gets tired of everyone else avoiding her chores, she avoids hers as well. Once the others see what the house is like, they start to help. My 7 year old and I had a discussion about what chores are and why we should do them. We talked about Mama Bear's feelings when Papa didn't do his chores. We talked about what happened to the tree house when Mama stopped doing her chores. These books are easy for my child to read alone and understand.

   The Berenstain Bears series are well known as excellent choices for children
The Berenstain Bears series is a great choice for children. My granddaughter is 2 years old and I bought her a DVD collection. When I used them for my children, they were great, but the series is better suited for older children as some of the elements are a bit scary or worrisome. They are an essential addition to any grandmother's house, but I would wait until children were Kindergarten and above to purchase them.

   Poor quality
The pictures on this one were not up to par. It looks like a pencil drawing that they forgot to draw. Outside the lines, there are colors in weird places. Dog poop is on multiple pages. One page shows a centipede swimming in the bath water in order to get Sister Bear. If I read this to my four year old she would have a hard time getting into the bathtub. Returned to me.

   Not good condition but cute
All of the books I ordered from Amazon have been in excellent condition. This is the first book that I've ordered that arrived in this condition. I just opened my package and it was tattering. I like that there is a lot of words to read so that the story doesn't end too quickly.

   If you want your hubby to clean...BUY THIS BOOK!!
I thought my husband was incapable of cleaning up after himself or helping me clean the house after 16 years, but after reading this book, I thought he was like a free maid. The bears really work.

   Great lesson for both kids and adults, but sub-par illustration
This is one of our daughters favorite books, however it has different art than the classics. I don't know why this changed for this particular book, but it's a good lesson for kids and adults.
