   a little disappointed
I usually like Berenstein Bears, but this book is not one of them. It was more about how parents give in to children and cause them to have gimmies than about how the kids should act once they' ve been told no. The book gives some opportunities to talk with children about how they should behave and why their parents shouldn't give them everything all the time. The book preaches to parents about their behavior more than it talks about children's behavior. Brother and Sister get a special treat at the store after picking out their own. I don't get a treat for my kids every time we go to the store. The ending that solved the problem but did not include prizes would have been better.

   A lesson on how to deal with greed
I got this book for my daughter when she was a child. This is the first time she's seen commercials and asked to have everything, but we get cable every year. She said that the first time she read the story she wished she had a cat. Bernstein Bears books are a great way to start conversations and introduce an idea, and she seems to understand now that she can't have everything. Whenever I hear her say I wish I had that, I make her walk around counting the things she has.

   Love the Bears. The Lesson... not so much
I' ve watched the gimmies first hand. They are embarrassing and frustrating. Gramps and Gran suggest that giving the cubs money to spend every time they go to the store is the solution to their temper. It might work initially, but eventually children will feel entitled to get something every time. I have been a fan of the Berenstain Bears since I was a child. I can't agree with it. If you' re looking for a book with good money lessons for kids, I recommend the Berenstain Bears Trouble with Money. I use it when I get the chance to teach in elementary school. Todd is an author of money for everyday people.

   Mostly helps with an anti-gimmie lesson...
I forgot that at the end of the book the parents agree that the cubs can get 1 item every time they go to the store. I had to explain to my 5 year old that he doesn't always get something when he goes to the store.

My son is a fan of this book. This has been one of his favorites since he was 27. Even though he can't read or write, he loves having it read to him.

This was a great book to help teach a lesson about being greedy, it is something that I can use to help me teach my children without calling on their own behavior, and my daughter loves it.

   Not sure on the messaging here.
I usually love the Berenstain Bears, but this one isn't. To stop your kids from having fits, they should decide what they are getting from the store before you leave. If you have a fit, you don't get anything like a message when you go to a store. It gets across the point about how embarrassing public antics can be.

   worst lesson to teach!!!
This book was thrown out by me. To solve whining, kids should pick out a toy or treat and not ask for anything else. It tells kids they should expect a treat, toy or gift every time they go somewhere so that they don't whine. I was a bit shocked. What a bad message! No thanks, that's right! I' ve read some other books but this one was not good.

   Love these books. Highly recommend- great life lessons.
My kids and I like bears. These books are stimulating. My boys are 8 years old and still love them. I like the life lessons as a parent. The paper and cover are very good. Par with other books.
