   An Eternal Reference
That is a lot to say for a book on grammar. Instead of using Memory Techniques, she simplifies for easy understanding and then drills you with quizzes. I had to use grammar-girl twice for two rules i just gave up on understanding. There is a large back-online quiz resource that can be referenced for most grammar situations that you can get into. You may think that you read a rule 150 pages back and understood until you look at a sentence and realize that you don 't know what Lie to use. Fortunately, Straus gives me plenty of examples on each grammar rule, leaving me no excuse for this review that I have not thoroughly proofread. I have no doubt that I gain an upper hand on English grammar by continuing to study this book.

My favorite section is "Confusing Words and Homonyms
My favorite section is in conjunction with words and homonyms. Trust me, these words are often confused by published writers and yes, doctoral students. After each section there are quizzes. Amazon's cost is greatly discounted.

   For All Ages!
I started a new adventure as a transcriptionist at 56. It has been many years since my first grammar and punctuation studies. This book is great! Not only am I brushing my knowledge, I also learn new things! I really enjoy this guide ''. There are great examples after each instruction for which the explanation of the principle is given. It is so simple to understand. I recommend it for all ages! ''

   No verb tenses!
I just got on Amazon to return this book, but I missed the return window by about a week. I finally sat down and up in the book with the intention of learning grammar, in my case I am learning verb tenses. There are no verbs in this book! I did not know that a grammar book could be made without verbal times. I am very disappointed because I have spent quite a bit of money in the book, which is not useful to me.

   Good book
It is great, but it's a big and blue book. If you or someone you know suffers from poor grammar, consider this book.

I am a very intelligent 51 yr old back in school to bring myself ...
Who knew that I would be so excited to receive an English grammar book? Far easier for me to look at or refer to than to review each time on-line. At home, everyone should have two reference books, a dictionary and the Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation. No wonder my children are constantly correcting me! I just bought another copy to give to a young gal in the class that is struggling.

Not user friendly, not adapted to people who want to learn how the English language is spoken or written...
The book is accurate, but not user friendly... For instance, there is little about conjugation and verbal times. I would say that this is a book that is not adapted for people who want to speak English properly, but maybe for punctuation nerds... After a few lessons, most of the book is alphabetically organized and deals with homonyms or more punctuation.

   I love this book
I have used this book in my adult English classes, the lessons are well written and easy to present. Also several students and one other teacher ordered this book.

It will help you to not look like you never had an English course in your life.
This book is one of the best I have seen on grammar and here is the best feature A large part of this book is dedicated to homonymous words that sound alike or are spelled alike, but have different meanings. Why is this important ''. Because these are the words that your auto-correction checker miss, i.e. They are spelled correctly, but with the wrong meaning, so that you end up looking like an idiot. The simplest example is your rushing to finish your article and you use your and you're incorrectly, as I just did. Your spelling checker won 't catch that, so use the correct word and be sharp. YourYou're is an basic example of this book covers many more plus it covers punctuation etc etc.
