Praise for The Bogleheads' Guide to Investing, Second Edition

I'm often asked to recommend a good, basic book on investing, and The Bogleheads' Guide to Investing has been my go-to pick since its original publication. It focuses on all the right things: the virtues of maintaining a frugal lifestyle, keeping investment costs down, and building a simple, low-maintenance portfolio. And importantly, it also tells investors what they can safely tune out--namely, day-to-day market action and the latest 'hot' investment products. Its advice will stand the test of time.
--CHRISTINE BENZ, Director of Personal Finance, Morningstar, Inc.

John Bogle set out to reform the mutual fund industry nearly 40 years ago. He saw a high fee, self-serving, good ol' boy network and thought it was wrong. Bogle believed the purpose of an investment company was to be investor-focused. His idea turned into a revolution. The Bogleheads' Guide to Investing is a testimony to the massive changes that have taken place as a result of Bogle's vision. The ideas in this book have saved countless investors billions of dollars in unnecessary fees. Hats off to Taylor, Mel, and Mike for a job well done.
--RICK FERI, CFA, Founder, Portfolio Solutions LC

Bogleheads: A Book That Makes Sense Out of Wall Street
There is nothing like a Bear Market to get you to question a lot of things about investing, Garton said. Indeed, having said that, this book which focuses on the ideas of John Bogle is just the ticket to set you straight on a number of critically important investment concerns. Asset allocation, the importance of having the lowest costs, how the mutual fund businss really works, it's all here and it all makes perfect sense, Raymond said. I wish I had heard more of the wisdom that this man has been passing along for so many years while inventing index funds at Vanguard Investments. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to invest with greater confidence and success. It did me, Tunick said.

Essential for every American to read
This book is a must read for every American looking to make wise decisions with how they are handling and placing retirement and other investments. This book is written simply enough for most people to easily understand and it really opened my eyes to what the true costs were of some of the suggestions I received for free from the representative from my employer's retirement plan, Hollingworth said.

   Great Book
I really enjoyed this book, said Blair. Rather than shell out tons of money for investment advisers and money managers, I decided to take my family's financial matters into my own hands. This book will serve as an excellent primer for me, the reader, on how to properly self-study, he said. The book isn't very dry or technical, and given the subject matter, it's pretty easy to read, too. Even my wife has to read it!

   Great Introduction to Passive Investing
This book was my first foray into researching personal investing and preparing for retirement. The authors do a good job of making investing topics and terms understandable while also explaining how to be a savvy investor. Not only does the book have a wealth of personal investing information and advice, but it also features recommendations for further reading should you decide to continue your financial research.

   Good book for the basics
This is a great book for those new to investing or for those who need to go back and refresh on some basic concepts of investing. The authors are long-term pros, and they're not trying to sell you anything or tout financial advisors, Kelly said.
