   Gorgeous large book
It was intended to be a gift, but the delivery person put it in a wet spot on my porch and the box it came in was very wet and many pages are wavy. Too damaged for a gift so that I keep the damaged book and order another. That is the only reason I haven t awarded it the 5th star.

An easy and interesting read, lots of great photos and very inspiring
I did not know that this world existed of dry gardens. I did not know that a beautiful and diverse garden could be so dry. I love this book absolutely ''. It is just so inspiring... and by the end of your first read, you develop deep respect for the founder of the garden. Beautiful and inspiring story of how the garden came about, great big beautiful photos and an interesting and easy read. As a newbie to gardening in general, it is a great reference book and inspires me to continue my journey.

   Wonderful Book!
This book is my favorite! I've lived in Idaho, but the temperatures, lack of large water sources and access to drought-resistant plants are similar. The most important lesson I took from this read a great yard takes time, patience and a plan. Knowing that Ruth started her garden in the 1970s and new plants are still being added has given me motivation to slow it down, to plan and plant carefully, and to enjoy each step of progress. The pictures are large, colorful and well placed to give the viewer a good idea of the direction she took in beginning her garden to where it now stands. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in xeriscaping'' or needing motivation to start their gardening journey.

The garden of Ruth is just lovely. The book has such beautiful illustrations and stories about how the garden grows and the people who have it so tender for so many years. I have given this book several times and is always a welcomed gift.
