Story of Balto encourages sick kids
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
My 7-year-old son asked for this book when he was admitted to the hospital for two weeks after suffering from meningitis. It is the story of Balto, a real life saved husky who goes on a mission to deliver life-saving medicine to a sick little girl before it is too late. He completed the mission successfully. The story is exactly right for little kids, esp those who need a little extra theorization. My son bought a husky to go with it, and we bought the full set of Balto - DVDs on Amazon to take it to the hospital. My little fellow has been well recovered and has very fond memories of Balto and still enjoys the book and the movies.

Such a great story for all children in pre-K who are at ...

Such a great story for all children in pre-K who are at age to appreciate pets. I wish the story was longer, as Balto's journey was a real struggle and a journey that required real stamina and courage. Perhaps this book for pre-K and then the movie for pre-K and K should be the books read in early childhood classes-------Leaving Kermit and Big Bird for home television watching. At all times, the school should be a learning experience. Stories of courageous animals are the best stories for young children before age six, both at home and at school are good places for these learning experiences.

Balto Brings History to Life
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
The great story of Balto, the true dog ever, has every element needed to keep children interested and entertained. Beginning readers will find this bit of history full of adventure. In Alaska during the 1925 blizzard, sled dogs are the only mode of transportation with a remote chance of receiving the vaccine for an outbreak of Diphtheria from Anchorage to Nome. The details about the care of sled dogs will interest readers about the details. The danger of the elements and the difficulty of the trip adds suspense. The ending is satisfying as Standiford shows how Balto saved the day as well as how he is remembered with a statue of him at Central Park in New York.

Inspiring Story, Great for Kids Getting Ready for Real Chapter Books
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
The true story of Balto is about a courageous, intelligent and heroic dog who transports medication to children in desperate need. He encounters some of the worst winter conditions imaginable on his journey. I purchased the Kindle version of this book for a project that my second grader has to complete. I love that the book is written in a way that is easy to understand. The illustrations make it more engaging for young readers, while the chapter set prepares them for the transition to full-blown chapter books. My son and I both loved this book. Here we are a dog-loving bunch, so that book really captivated us and touched our hearts. Since we finished the story, we spent quite a bit of time researching Balto, and my son has shown a keen interest in this wonderful canine hero. Tonight we intend to watch together the animated children's film Balto. Recommended highly for young readers.

Balto - The Bravest Dog Ever!
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
This is a great little story and the best part is that it is actually a true story of a very brave dog! He was the lead dog in a dog sled team in Alaska and had to go to a city many, many miles away to get medicine for two very sick children who had Diphtheria and would have died without them. There was a blizzard and some of the other dogs died in the team. I read it to my 4 year old grandson, who loves animals and he loved this story.

My son doesn 't love reading and my son doesn 't love to read. I downloaded this book on my kindle and was excited to read it. The story is compelling enough to keep the interest of a six-year-old boy.

This is a high quality book in every respect : printing, construction and best of all - story. I thought I knew what the story would be -- probably another Iditarod story. Absolutely not, absolutely not. Will not spoil the surprise here. Buy it and see!
