The Wordsworth edition is NOT the Avsey translation!
Derived From Web , May 23, 2022
Based on one or more of the reviews, I ordered the Wordsworth edition of The Brothers Karamasov, thinking that it must be the Avsey translation that raved about the review. It is not. It is the old translation of Constance Garnett. What happens is that the reviews for the Oxford Press edition and the Wordsworth edition are mixed together. The Amazon site for the Wordsworth edition does not mention who is the translator, so it is my fault for being taken into consideration by the review. Beware of careless shoppers : If you search Amazon for Ignat Avsey, his translation of the novel turns up. A few dollars extra for a book you're going to spend some serious time with!

Does not reflect book
Derived From Web , Jun 15, 2021
The book was wonderful, this review has nothing to do with the contents of it, but more about appearance. The price was so low that I can not complain, but just be aware that the product may be a little damaged.

What a book!
Derived From Web , May 16, 2021
It answers so many questions I once thought about and is now considering. There are human versus God, parents versus children, siblings, exlovers, poor families, etc. How could such a book cover with such depth almost eternity. I made a good decision of reading this book. It might be difficult to love an actual person who is never perfect, but try it, also giving yourself an opportunity to be a better person.

Lower quality printing and footnoting
Derived From Web , May 16, 2020
Wordsworth does a respectable printing for the price, but paper quality is poor, ink even mud and footnotes are scant. Barnes and Nobles does much better classics - editions at only a few dollars more, much better quality of paper and the most robust footnotes of any edition. I 'll stick with theirs.
