Four children have been chosen to compete in a national competition to find the tastiest confection in the country. Who will invent a candy more delicious than the Oozing Crunchorama or the Neon Lightning Chew?

Logan, the Candymaker's son, who can detect the color of chocolate by touch alone?

Miles, the boy who is allergic to merry-go-rounds and the color pink?

Daisy, the cheerful girl who can lift a fifty-pound lump of taffy like it's a feather?

Or Philip, the suit-and-tie wearing boy who's always scribbling in a secret notebook?

A sweet read for young & old!
My fourth and fifth grade children were selected for this book for a book club they attend at school. I read it to them as a helper for the club. All three of us indulged in the sensory descriptions of the book. We could smell and taste all the wonderful creations of the would-be candymakers. The use of revolving points of view added to the mystery behind the characters'motivations and increased the surprise and delight upon discovering the truth behind them all. I even found myself tearing at the conclusion. This is certainly a sweet read!

   The Candymakers
The Candymakers is the best book ever written. After reading the book, I thought this was one of the best books ever written. I can not believe that Daisy is a potato. Potato is a secret word. This book shows that we have scars on the inside and some of us have them on the outside and it does not much matter if they are on the outside of it. I loved the quote in the begging, it does not matter what you see in it, what you look at this quote follows the theme of the book. Every word is a clue and every character taught me something different. Don 't dwell on things to long, do what you like and like what you are, be a leader, not a follower, and what matters on the inside.

   The Candymakers
It was AMAZING! I developed real feelings for the characters, like they were strong people. The book had just a serious feel, but it was funny when it needed to be. It catches curveballs and surprises and makes the book delightfully addicting. I literally couldn t rip my eyes off the book from the first page. And at the ending, I was actually smiling, like the story came to me just. Wendy Mass, Spectacular Job, is a little more difficult. See, I am so mesmerized by the ending that I can 't even think clearly.

   Kids loved it.
I used this book in my class for 5-7 years old. When they received it for the first time, they looked terrified at how thick it was! It was our third book and by far the thickest book we have ever read. But those fearful glances faded fast. They read the book enthusiastically and got more and more excited as it went. Together with the normal literature guidelines, go beyond and bring the book to life by doing activities such as creating your own advertisements for your made-up candy, taking a taste test while learning about the different taste buds you have and making candy in class!

   The book
This is one of the best books I ever read. It is so inspiring and heartwarming and also a little sad. It was really cool because it showed the life of a kid in a candy factory that is kind of basic, but then it said he was burned and that is not what you would expect.

   Just amazing
This is one of the most heart-fellow books I have ever read. The fact that you can create all those puzzle pieces and then put them together is truly an amazing talent! I read several books by you and this is by far the best! Victoria Lauria, 10 Yr. old, Xoxo.
