In the first book in the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series, readers will meet Soren, a barn owl who discovers a great evil in the owl kingdom which he must work to vanquish. When Soren is pushed from his family's nest by his older brother, he is rescued by representatives from a mysterious school for orphaned owls, St. Aggie's. When Soren arrives at St. Aggie's, he suspects there is more to the school than meets the eye. He and his new friend, a clever female elf owl named Gylfie, find out that St. Aggie's is actually a training camp where the school's leader is grooming young owls to help achieve her goal, which threatens the lives of owls everywhere. First Soren and Gylfie must escape. Then they embark on a long and perilous journey to find a way to save all owls from the danger that lurks at St. Aggie's.

Good read, not sure if I recommend for younger children.
The owls are the main characters in this fiction series, which is a good one. There are a couple things that lead to concern for younger children. There is an awkward moral system for the owl group. The military society is devoted to maintaining absolute power over the world through military victory, while the bad side has effectively nazi owls. There were 2. There is no room for compromise because of the conflict. There were 3. The theme of the book is anti- science.
Wonderful series of books for young people.
This is the second book in the series and I bought it for my grandson. He likes to read and liked the movie " Guardians of Ga' hoole". He was so excited to get the books that followed the movie. A young person is reading and catching fire. Having a great series of books that pull them from one to the next to the next is the perfect way for young people to hone their skills and whet their appetite for a lifetime of wonderful reading.
   Fantasy, adventure, and education
The book will make readers of all ages listen for the call of an owl at night and wonder about the owl's secret life. It is guaranteed to interest children. A quick page turner will leave an impression on older readers.
   Very good book
This is a good book to read. I only read at the 5 th grade level and this kind of book is great for me.
As always, Better Than the Movie
The series will interest me. I have a copy of the movie on the computer. My wife and I love watching it. As good as the movie is, the adage of the book being better still holds true, and this first book proves it.
   Good Book
I bought this book for my granddaughter as a Christmas gift. She read the book in less than two weeks. I now have a list of future gifts because she wants more books in the series.
   Great book for young readers
This was a great book for young people. Dealing with the fight between good and evil was enjoyable. Similar to the animal- populated Redwall books, all the characters in this book are owls, and the information on the animals is well- researched, highly educational, and interwoven into the narrative. There is an excellent balance of male and female characters in the book, and the main characters are smart, kind, and brave. I think there are eighteen books in the series, and this was the first one. You will know a lot about owls.
   I loved the movie
I liked the movie. I read it. Goodness! O. M. The author's descriptions of the story are amazing. It was hard to put it down.
This is one of my favorite series that I couldn't put down
This is one of the best series I' ve ever watched. There is a glossary at the end of the book to help clarify the many characters. This is a gift for my grandson. One of my favorites authors.
