Book Overview

his is the most up-to-date, comprehensive, and thorough defense of the Catholic Church against Protestant objections in print. This book is especially relevant as the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation draws near and discussion of the arguments made against the Church during that time in history receive renewed interest.

The Case for Catholicism answers arguments put forward by early Reformers like Luther and Calvin as well as contemporary defenders of Protestantism like Norm Geisler and R.C. Sproul. It provides a meticulous defense of the biblical and historical nature of Catholic doctrines from Scripture and church history. Finally, in both answering Protestant objections to Catholicism and in providing evidence for the Faith, The Case for Catholicism cites modern Protestant scholars who question Reformation assumptions and show how evidence from Scripture and church history support aspects of Catholic theology.

This book is divided into four sections, with each answering a key question Christians have asked about the nature of their faith. Those key questions are:

  • What is my authority?
  • What is the Church?
  • How am I saved?
  • Who belongs to the body of Christ?

The Case for Catholicism will become a reliable, resource for any Catholic who desires a well-researched, readable, and persuasive answer to Protestant arguments made against the Catholic faith.

With THOUSANDS of Protestant churches, all started by men, this book shows that the church that is founded by Christ is the Catholic Church.
   Answer me this
I found a lot of Catholic information about good reasons for why they believe what they do. I am Catholic and it helped me understand and answer some of my questions, it will strengthen my own beliefs and it will help me to answer questions from other people. It is a good book to have.
   Excellent Subject
There are hundreds of denominations in Protestantism without any authority in personal interpretation. If one looks with an open mind into the Bible, almost all the answers are found in the Catholic Church.
   Great book
This provides clear evidence for Catholic doctrine from the Bible and early Christian writers. If you deal with well intentioned Protestants, this book provides compelling evidence that their beliefs are not what Jesus taught, no matter how well intentioned.
Great Educational Foundation for any Catholic!
This book helped me think more about my faith and why I am Catholic. Trent presents both arguments fairly and can even have you questioning what you believe REALLY. I think that anyone seeking better understanding and a solid foundation for their Catholic faith should read this. Why wouldn t you want to know all the hard questions that Protestants often ask Catholics?
   Powerful and Revealing
Having read similar books, I came at this book with an open mind. None has been as comprehensive or logical as this presentation. Its defense of Catholic doctrine is very thorough. I am still left with a few questions about Mary and Purgatory, but beyond that I feel reasonably certain that Protestant objections are nothing more than attempts to be non-Catholic. I feel as though I have been dumped for a very long time in some way.
Great book! As a recent convert to Catholicism this ...
Book is great! This book is a must for any new convert to Catholicism! Trent Horn is one of my go-to authors when I need answers.
   Buy it. Trust me.
This book is AMAZING! I am quite certain that I could answer almost any objection to Catholicism that my comprehensive friends could ever propose using this book and the references in its Protestant footnotes. And as usual, all arguments in the true style of Trent Horn are really tight and logical. One of my best buys on Amazon is one of my best. If you're a Catholic who wants to be able to give your Protestant friends in-depth, intellectually rigorous answers about faith, you NEED this book.
   Strategy guide for your soul
If Catholism was a video game, the case for Catholicism would be the ultimate strategy guide. As it is significantly more important than a game, this resource is even more important.
