Helped to save my troubled dogs life
When I adopted a puppy mill dog, I used this book a lot. She was helped by this book to deal with her fears. It's only 30 pages, so I was able to use the strategies and techniques immediately, without reading a novel about it. I use these techniques from time to time because my dog is a fear- based dog and develops new fears all the time. We always go back to the main strategy. The anxiety separation book and the leash reactivity book were purchased by me because my little one is a bundle of behavioral issues. There is a possibility that this is true.

   Depends on your dogs fear
I was hoping for a lot more. The information concentrates on the fear of strangers and walking your dog. To use the information, you need to identify the Trigger. My dog is afraid of people. All the time, I get spooked. Even when outside. The book assumes my dog hides and we cannot find her. It would be easy if I put her on a leash and went for a stroll. We do that a lot and she is fine.

Another Excellent Dog Training Book By Dr. Patricia B. McConnell
I am familiar with the contributions of Patrica B McConnell to dog training. Dr McConnell is an excellent animal behaviorist. The books are easy to read. Dr. McConnell's books are an excellent reference for both professionals and the average dog owner. Dr. McConnell doesn't mind telling her readers to read books by other animal behaviorists or dog trainers. I recommend this book to anyone who might have to deal with a fearful or fear aggressive dog.

"book" It is 30 pages of large text. This is a pamphlet.
A 26 page phamplet is what the first 4 pages are. It has all the information you need to train a fearful dog for free. The training techniques are standard. To sum it all up. Do not reward scared behavior by consoling the animal. If you don't like looking things up online, it is $5. The syllabus is well written so I gave it 3 starts.

Dogs are not how you raise and train them.
The integrity of the genetics of behavior was something I liked. It is the dog most of the time. A dog can be taught to act differently. Rehabbing needs to continue even if nature is the root cause.

   Helping a reactive dog
Although I don't have a dog of my own, I am volunteering at a dog rescue and trying to help the dogs that are in need so they can be adopted. I will be adopting a dog in the future and I want to make sure I'm ready. The book shows me that it is possible to train a dog to be friendly with other dogs and strangers. Better for the dog and owner. Never give up.

   Keep reinforcing your training.
The book was great. I have an 11 month old female German shepherd that is shy. She hides when my husband comes around and we are trying to get her to accept him as she has me. When he called, she came to him. I feel we are making great strides despite the slow progress. It does take time and repetition but I would recommend this book.
