Get ready to run . . . an edge-of-your-seat thriller with bite from international bestselling author Linwood Barclay, in his first novel for 9-12 year olds.

Chipper is a very special dog. As part of a top-secret, multi-million dollar experiment to create the ultimate canine spy technology, Chipper's whole life has been spent within the walls of a secret organization known only as The Institute. Chipper is supposed to be more machine than mutt, but something's wrong and The Institute knows it. He's about to be terminated.

Across the state, twelve-year-old orphan Jeff Conway is working all hours at his aunt Flo's lakeside cabin business. He misses his parents, his old life, and the dog he had to leave behind.

When Chipper escapes and his and Jeff's paths collide, dog and boy find themselves tangled up in the most dangerous game of chase imaginable.

This is the second book I read in the Fast Track series and I enjoyed it very much. This is the story of the female race car driver Kendall Holbrook and Evan Monroe of the Monroe racing dynasty. Once long ago, Kendall and Evan dated when they were 18 and broke up. Years later they get back together and the rest is history. Kendall and Evan had great chemistry and I cared whether or not they got together. I liked that they actually spoke and had a functional relationship. It made me feel like Kendall, who was mature for most of the time and handled things like an adult, seemed like a surly teen. I also did not like that it never resolved Evan's paternity issue. This was actually mentioned in the next book, Slow Ride, but if I were someone who did not want to continue reading the series, I would never know the outcome.
   Fun, Hot, Good Story
The whole series is great! I am now on the last book. This book is great and glad to see a woman driver and bring some problems that women face in dominant male roles to light. I like that the characters appear in the entire series from other books. The only two negatives I had was that in a previous book, Evan told Ty that since he broke off with Imogen, he can ask her out because he has a thing for brunettes, but in this book it is written that he has a thing for blondes. I am sure that this was an oversight and I did not want to take a star away because of this small thing. I also did not like the ending, as far as the pregnancy goes and whether Evan was the father or not. To enjoy this book you do not have to purchase the following book.
A Great Read from The Fast Track Series
Erin M. delivers again. There is no need to go into all the racing car stuff, cause this is a love story. After clearing the air from the past Evan Monroe finally hands in his Man Whore card for the true love and lust of his life, Kendall Holbrook! I am in love with the story, the racing, the romance, the love and sexy from these two people! It took them 10 years and a crafty friend to put them together! '' I really enjoyed the story and I'm glad I had a snow day here in NC so that I could read it all in 8 hours! I love it, I'm on the next ride on the Slow Ride! Gotta sees Tuesday aka the crafty friend get her happily ever after! x '' x half a million!
   Loved this story
I don 't understand the negative reviews of this book. It is one of the better ones in the series I thought of and I have liked them all. I loved the past relationship and how the couple matured. The plot twist was only to add angst to the story, as do so many romance novels.

If this is your first book in the Erin McCarthy series, it will hook you fast. Erin McCarthy is a great book, read and enjoy.
