If you are interested in understanding more about the connection between diet and disease, read this book. The depth and detail of the science from which Campbell's conclusions come is remarkable. He also does a good job explaining why the research hasn 't had a wider acceptance. The fact that Campbell was there when much of this research was done, decisions made and policies influenced by industry gives this book much more credibility than some others.

While the doctors know what they are talking about, they are actually dumbfounded. This book explores how the Western Diet, promoted by modern doctors, is extremely high in fat and/or high protein compared to most of the rest of the world. Studies that examine low mortality rates in this diet are like comparing people who smoke five packs of cigarettes a day compared to people who smoke only 97 cigarettes a day.

My vegan career started 16 years ago. I started reading this book the very day I finished reading it. I had the last piece of Cheddar cheese I ate and since then I have no regrets. Very quickly lapses into veganism and one-track proselytizing, very quickly lapses into veganism and one-track proselytizing. Some great pointers, suggestions, ideas, recipes, but the good seems overwhelmed by fantastic ideas and monomaniacally unattainable metabolic theory. Scientific fiction is used by monetary science to support a scientific gain.

This book is so worth reading if you have an auto-immune disease, heart disease, etc. I have this book and the book by Dr. Esselstyn, Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. These 2 doctors met over the years and their findings over the last 40 years are remarkable. I had high cholesterol and was on a statin drug that wreaking havoc with my arthritis. A retired pharmacist recommended to me this book. I was convinced that I needed to drastically change my diet from Atkins to a completely plant-based diet. I have been a vegan for a year now and quit the Statin drug at the same time. I have naturally lowered my cholesterol to 170 and am aiming for 150. I feel much better and am grateful to have read this. You can meet both of these doctors in a film called Forks over Knives. It is available on Netflix and is available on . Bold criticism of the continuing focus of the medical community on drug and procedure treatment of chronic diseases states is abold criticism of the medical community's continued focus on medical treatment. A very disturbing and clear picture of the financial community's involvement in structuring health policies and information of our country. A definite must read that I most highly recommend.
