   GOOD BOOK
Good book for those people who are bored at the clinic, my patients seemed to enjoy the book and I liked it too. It even helped me to come up with a new table design.

Lots of great tips. This teaches the basic skills not actual ...
Bought as a gift for my husband, who is new to wood working. This teaches basic skills, not actual projects.

   the encyclopedia for a woodworker
Liked the book's presantation and layout, though confusing at first. It is a useful list of comon woods that is quite gratifying and is just like someone answering your woodworking questions.

   Good reference book
The perfect gift for my husband, who is just beginning woodworking. He has the interest but needed some basic direction to get him started.

   Great book
It obviously can not cover everything related to woodworking, but should be very interesting to anyone who wants to learn more about the subject or who is going to start some of their own projects. Great picture quality, a lot of information and well written.

   30+ years out of date
There is some great first material in the book, but they did not put effort to update the book in the last 32 years. There have been advances in power tools, and it wouldn't have taken them much time to update the book.

   Good for what it is
It does not focus on any one aspect of woodworking, but offers great information on a lot of things. If you want a book on a specific part of woodworking, this is not the book for you. This book will show you what to design when and when to take your own woodworking projects into consideration. In closing, think of this book as a woodworking encyclopedia and you would need a book on joinery only and even then specifically what type of joinery. Keep in mind that books can teach so much, eventually you have to dive and get your hands dirty.

   Wow! What an awesome book!
I have been woodworking for more than 30 years but never really got a good workshop or learned the basics. I learned nothing more by trial and error. I saw this book and thought it would be a great refresher for what I already knew, but it provided a lot of the info I don 't know and has not disappointed! It starts with the basics of the biology of trees and wood, logging of wood, types of wood, etc., including really nice color photos! I have not even gotten to the later parts of the book, but is so good so far that I had to submit this review! If I change my mind significantly after completion, I will make the effort to revise my review, but I don 't think I will need it.

30 year old book and contents
If you want to read about 56 species of wood, many of which are no longer available, get this book. It was written when 12 inch plywood was actually 12 inch thick. Very little is known about the router and the router table. Many descriptions of used joinery techniques are briefly discussed. Bottom Line : This book is painfully outdated and lacks any modern instructions on how to do woodworking with real tools and lacks practical techniques. Hard to believe that they have printed the same old 19 times and kept selling it. I now understand why there is no feature called Look Inside. Very disappointed ''.
