   America’s Test Kitchen Salad Cookbook
If you liked the television series, I think you’ll enjoy the recipes and the format they are presented in, folksy and scientific.... always seeking to provide the home cook with the ability to create flavor and create inspiring meals, in this case healthy salads and “bowls ''. Using fresh ingredients and a worldwide view of the vegetables, fruits, grains and dressing recipes compiled in the book. It is a large paperback with usual mouthwatering photos, so you 'll need a book rest to use it. We eat dinner in our home every night and are always looking for ways to mix it up, as salads can become rather greasy and predictable in one's meal rotation. Within the book we found some fresh inspiration and have the desire to try things new outside the box.

I'd only try about half the recipes in this book.
I like to watch ATK on PBS. However, half the recipes in this cookbook would never be tried because their ingredients are too creepy to be found here in my small town or are too exotic to even consider eating. But the other half of the recipes were easy to make and taste for me and my family. The pressure on ATK cooks to constantly come up with new recipes must be tremendous, so I appreciate all the hard work they put in to make and test the recipes in this cookbook. It is truly complete.

Gardener's Dream? This book's best feature is also its greatest liability
I honestly have a hard time rating this... because the ingredients here are things I will never find in my area until my garden is substantially larger than it is now. On the other hand, having worked farmers markets in foodie communities and loved the food... this book makes me drool. We moved somewhere more rural... and even at the local market I stand very little chance of picking up some of the unique ingredients asked for, and as they are fresh, my only option is growing them... so... I'll update you on taste next spring, as I said in the past : I have worked and gardened farmers markets for farmers who had such ingredients, and I was always trying to find good recipes for those amazing things, so it's best feature... is literally it's biggest issue. If you live where you can get anything, or garden, I'm betting you 'll love this book if you live where you can get anything.

   Very detailed.
What I liked was the detail to which this cookbook goes. Everything you ever wanted to know about making something as simple as a salad. I love salads, but it gets boring after awhile and I run out of ideas. This book gives you plenty of ideas and I love the reason why it works feature that ATK has in each of their cookbooks.

America's Test Kitchen is always a win for my tummy.
If you're looking for someone to give you a basic, everyday bordom in salad form, this book is probably not for you. Like other ATK books, it is a book full of colorful, complex, well-refined recipes. It might be daunting at first to dive in, but you won 't be disappointed once you start the journey. ATK takes the guess work out of the test by doing what their namesake is, testing. Every recipe contains tidbits of knowledge about how they arrived where they did. How their flavors interact, or at least notes that chronicle what did and didn 't work for them. To be honest, though, you will find a few simple recipes. Their Peach Caprese salad calls for seven ingredients, two of which are salt and pepper. The only reason I gave this four stars is that a few pages had print issues, one of which obscures a measurement on a recipe.

   Not Everyday Fare
This book may have some useful suggestions and ideas for creative salads. However, for me most recipes are unusual, overly complex and not particularly appealing.
