Book Overview

A radical shift in perspective to transform your organization to become more innovative

The Design Thinking Playbook is an actionable guide to the future of business. By stepping back and questioning the current mindset, the faults of the status quo stand out in stark relief--and this guide gives you the tools and frameworks you need to kick off a digital transformation. Design Thinking is about approaching things differently with a strong user orientation and fast iterations with multidisciplinary teams to solve wicked problems. It is equally applicable to (re-)design products, services, processes, business models, and ecosystems. It inspires radical innovation as a matter of course, and ignites capabilities beyond mere potential. Unmatched as a source of competitive advantage, Design Thinking is the driving force behind those who will lead industries through transformations and evolutions.

This book describes how Design Thinking is applied across a variety of industries, enriched with other proven approaches as well as the necessary tools, and the knowledge to use them effectively. Packed with solutions for common challenges including digital transformation, this practical, highly visual discussion shows you how Design Thinking fits into agile methods within management, innovation, and startups.

   It's so Un-relatable
It is full of theories and odd stories of design team paradigms that should exist, but really shouldn 't at least not in my experience. It seems to be overcomplicated for a book about human-centered design.

could be good, but it's illegible.
Was excited to read this, but I could barely make progress, as the type choice that I was seeing was just awful. Of course, the irony of design - thinking prototype, refine, learn... they certainly did not dog-food this one.

5 Stars and no less. I have SUCCESSFULLY put many of these exorcises to practice
The last 12 months have spent me focusing on UX research at my organization and have many of these exorcises put into practice SUCCESSFULLY. Merci beaucoup for your great contributions to the world of product design. Pro Tip : get the printed copy and also the digital copy if you have an iPad or other tablet that allows you to view this digitally and mark it. DT also recommends the worksheets from the book stoolbox ''.

Book printed upside down on first delivery, Corrected on second delivery
The book delivered is printed on the upside and some of the texts are stripped from the top of the book. Michael Lewrick, the author of the book, reached out personally to us after the above review and ensured that we will receive the correct printed copy of the book. Today we received this book and are excited to go through it. Thank you for valuing our feedback and sending us a complimentary copy.

   Great introduction to Design Thinking
Great content, didn 't like the way it was told, not much of a fan of stories of good people, but messages were fake.

At a glance (first review out of three)
At a glance, I think it is an excellent book. I am enrolled in a series of certificate courses at IDEOU and think that it is a great supplementary text for my studies...

Print too small to read in many diagrams--waste of money if you can't read it!
The PRINT IS TOO SMALL TO READ-EVEN WITH MY GLASSES THAT GIVE ME 2020 VISION! Was it a shame? It appears like good material, but in charts and diagrams, it makes it virtually impossible to gain anything of value from them. Probably I will have to return it. Very disappointing! ''

A paradigm shift in Design Thinking.
The recently published Design Thinking Playbook by Wiley's Sons shows how a digital design approach could be used in human transformation. Topics like AI, Blockchain, Big Data Analytics, etc. Well covered : The playbook, however, covers a digital thinking mindset beyond design. At the end of the day, we create critical experiences and functions for humans and the playbook shows how to get there. I like this mindset very much and I recommend the playbook to my peers. Not just the consulting firm, we should apply more design thinking in marketing, product management and start-up business to make a difference. The Design Thinking Playbook provides inspiration to various topics relevant in a digitized world.
