Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett has two lethal cases to contend with in this electrifying #1 New York Times-bestseller from C. J. Box.
Wyoming's new governor isn't sure what to make of Joe Pickett, but he has a job for him that is extremely delicate. A prominent female British executive never came home from the high-end guest ranch she was visiting, and the British Embassy is pressing hard. Pickett knows that happens sometimes--these ranches are stocked with handsome young cowboys, and ranch romances aren't uncommon. But no sign of her months after she vanished? That suggests something else. At the same time, his friend Nate Romanowski has asked Joe to intervene with the feds on behalf of falconers who can no longer hunt with eagles even though their permits are in order. Who is blocking the falconers and why? The more he investigates both cases, the more someone wants him to go away. Is it because of the missing woman or because he's become Nate's advocate? Or are they somehow connected? The answers, when they come, will be even worse than he'd imagined. It takes about 6 Hours and 58 minutes on average for a reader to read The Disappeared. An Important Story Too Little Known in the U.S.

In this book, the anguished Argentinians cover all the basics of the terror, the hopelessness, and the frustration of a society where the poor could do nothing to end the violence against the liberal elements of their society. She has you rooting for the brother and sister who are doing their best to be loyal to their families and country, Brosnan said.

Gloria Whelan is a joy to read. In particular this story I enjoyed the telling by the two different characters because it drew the reader into the deeper story, Hollingworth said.

Great introduction to The Dirty War and 1970s Argentina
Derived From Web , Apr 29, 2022
Through interviews and historical documents, this book delves into many of the many nuances of both Argentinian culture and the struggles faced by the families of the Disappeared. Though it only begins to touch on the true horrors of the situation, it serves as an introduction to the plights of many Argentinians. If you or your student are interested in learning more, The Little School is a good — though much more disturbing — supplement to many more accounts of the Disappeared.

Pretty good little novel
Derived From Web , Feb 5, 2020
I'm also a huge fan of Argentine literature, especially the military repression of the southern cone. It's not really a full-blown novel with ultra developed characters because it's actually more of a novella. Unlike other Dirty War novels I've read, this one seemed quite natural in its references to Argentine culture and history and the story was gripping and easy to follow. I think this would be an excellent choice for YA readers who want to know more about the dictatorships of Latin America in the 1970s, said Claudia Tenorio, senior research fellow at the Carnegie Latin American Center in Washington.
