For potters, mold making is invaluable because it allows them to slip-cast identical multiples of their work--and this newly revised, now in color edition of Andrew Martin's classic is the definitive guide to the craft. No other volume has shown the processes in such how-to detail. It's overflowing with hundreds of photos, key techniques, projects, master artist profiles, and troubleshooting tips. A thorough introduction addresses materials and tools, and presents Martin's simple, unique template method for making clay prototypes. Create easy one-piece molds to make tiles, bowls, and platters, or multi-piece molds for more complex forms. An extensive overview covers slip formulation, while offering highly desired slip recipes for low-, mid-, and high-fire clay bodies. This will be the standard reference in every ceramist's library.

Excellent and comprehensive
Derived From Web , Feb 14, 2022
The book is a thorough survey of mold making and slip casting. As I gain more experience, I uncover additional information in the re- reading of the book. The more experience you have with the techniques, the more you can learn from Andrew Martin and examples. The trouble- shooting sections are very good. The man is Randy Porter.

Scattered Approch and Shallow Informatiom
Derived From Web , Jun 13, 2021
He is talking about making a mold and in the next sodium silicate. The book is shallow and disorganized. You will understand what I mean if you have been in the industry. I think the author works in a government teaching job, where you don't need to know much. There are many pictures of art ceramics that were out of style a long time ago.

An outstanding book on casting
Derived From Web , Feb 20, 2020
Wow, that's amazing! A book is what it is. Unusual for this type of how- to manual, this book presented the evolution of one artist's journey through time, exploring techniques that worked best with an unusual art product he continued to refine and question. I really enjoyed this book.

There is a great book with lots of information. This doesn't give me much information about production pottery. It leans towards the arts.
