The Explosive Child: A New Approach For Understanding And Parenting Easily Frustrated, Chronically Inflexible Children is 298 pages long.
FINALLY, A BOOK FOR PARENTS OF A "FRUSTRATED" CHILD!!
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
I have a small library of books that I use to educate me about parenting a child who is sweet, smart and tries so hard but who has difficulty expressing an appropriate level of emotion for a frustrating situation. My child is now eight years old and with the information in this book, we are seeing remarkable changes in behavior because our parenting is changing for the better. The books have real- life practical advice, methodologies and exercises to help parents understand and help their children succeed. Whether your child cries a lot at frustrating situations or is at the other end of the spectrum, this book has what you need. I think it's great.

For parents
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
The book was written for parents who have children with over the top behaviors. When traditional discipline doesn't work and you have tried everything, it's not enough. It's my parenting skills that people think I don't have, however, this book taught me something different. It's not about dealing with the behaviors as one might for typical children, it's about teaching skills that the child is lacking and is delayed in. The book saved my sanity. I want her teachers to read it as well.

A new and unique insight into your child's behavior and psychology
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
I gained a better understanding of my child after reading this book. My wife and I have been able to lower the temperature in the house and have a better relationship with our son thanks to these techniques. The review is not five stars because of the difficulty in applying the approach encouraged by the authors to a child under five years old. There are assumptions about the child's abilities that he hasn't yet mastered. It will take a little while before the techniques I' ve learned in this book can really be applied to my situation.

What a great Book

I enjoyed listening to this book. I can only say that I'm living a better life because I' ve started using the techniques described by the author. He doesn't get out of control as often. The collaborative approach + letting go of requests that are not essential have changed my life.

For several nights by the fire, my husband and I listened to this audiobook together and talked about how we can be good parents. It taught us how to work with our kids who struggle with flexibility.

Author has so much empathy

I'm not alone! I didn't think my foster child was as extreme as others. I recommend this book to our social worker and therapist to understand what life is really like in our home. The author has practical solutions, and walks you through step by step with many examples. You feel like you are not alone.

Abridged book!
Derived From Web , Aug 28, 2018
When I finish listening to the book, I will update my rating, but I didn't know that this was an abbreviated version of the book. That is obvious in an audible title. Had I known, I would have bought the hard copy of the book.
