Read Scripture, Ask Questions, Grow Faith
Getting your kids to sit long enough to read the Bible together seems impossible, right? And having meaningful discussions about what you read is even harder. If the Bible is so important to the Christian life, why can it be so difficult to get kids excited about it?
The Family Bible Devotional is designed to tackle that problem. This book highlights 52 short Bible readings, pairing them with engaging background information and discussion questions. It's a family devotional that cultivates conversations--one that avoids simplistic answers and instead pulls kids into God's unfolding, mysterious, beautiful story with all of its twists and turns.
Your family will gain a deeper understanding of many of the Bible's famous--and sometimes not-so-famous--stories and events. You'll learn to look for the character of God as it's revealed in each passage, and to draw closer to His heart through prayer.

good for family worship

The book is serious enough for you to get as much spiritual learning out of each chapter as you want, he said. The book's chapters are broken up so that they don't become too complicated, but the plot is still interesting. Our family has had younger children and they are engaged, she said. The author's notes are accurate that it's flexible and you have to decide how to work it into a consistent routine for your family, they say. I read it to better guide our family readingdiscussions but this book requires little to no mental preparation, Mrs. Rule told her husband. We're very happy with the book, Simon said. It has all the pieces we were looking for to keep our family committed to a weekly worship during 2020 uncertainty, he said.

Wanted to love it so bad but unfortunately that wasn't the case

I purchased this as a family devotional and sadly ended up returning it. It started promising, but then went south. Just didn't get a good vibe when I was reading the book. My oldest daughter, who is 10, noticed it too.

Not Biblically accurate!
Derived From Web , Apr 22, 2020
I don't understand all the positive reviews. The devotional has caused a lot of complaints. The summarizations of the six books by John Paul are flawed with inaccuracies. The other day, my son piped in, “That's not right!†before I finished reading. No order, no matter how you slice it, is necessary. This wouldn't be a problem except that the introduction of each devotional tries to connect it to the previous day's devotion. The “connections†are a real stretch and don't make much sense, he said. The follow-up questions are weak, too. They miss great opportunities to help families dig into the meaning of the text, he said. This is by far the weakest of the lot. I would not give this book away. We threw it in the trash, Mr. Rule told us.

It's good, it not for young children younger than 7.
Derived From Web , Feb 26, 2020
Ok, so I have to go back to school, right? And, even though he is 5 years old, sitting and listening is not something that young kids are prone to do. If you want to reach more children, you can read the Beginner Bible or the Action Bible. It's great content, but it's not for younger kids. Wait until they are like 7 or 8 years old, and I guess to do this with family, Thibault said. If you want your child or even older child to know about Jesus and the Bible in general.... live it out and tell them what the Bible says about their life situations so they can learn how to cope with life.

Excellent Family Devotional
Derived From Web , Dec 10, 2019
We have a family night once a week where we do family worship and go over a devotional together, he said. Other devotionals I have used in the past have been a little cheesy and just not getting the depth I was looking for and wanted to engage my kids in. That's why I want my kids to learn and grow in the Bible. This devotional mix was the perfect mix of head and heart and was very applicable to children, Melissa said. We found ways to engage each and every one of our kids using this devotional. I highly recommend Dr. Goin to my friends and family. This book is a must-have for families looking for more family devotionals.

Great discussions
Derived From Web , May 13, 2019
We've done a few family devotional books with our kids, but this one is different, with longer scripture passages and follow-up questions, which have prompted some great discussions in our family. It's great to be back home, said Dr. Caralyn Grubb, "and everyone seems to be enjoying it." It flips back and forth between the old and new testaments. 0 1462228 14622201 It is a great example of how the book can be divided between old and new testaments.
