A treasured book from the past!
One of my favorite and most treasured books as a child. Then I see it on Amazon for sale... What the? How old and unexpected for a book that is over years awesome. These simply illustrated older books are beautiful and always tell a needed life lesson. They are characters that you will never forget. And they are not completely morphed into super crazy cartoon characters. And firemen look like men. huh, crazy huh? This was a newer reprint edition. Can 't wait to share this story with the Grandkids!

6 year old son struggled to read but learned new words - we'll keep practicing with this book - cute story
My son LOVES all things fireman and related, so he loved this book. It talks about good and bad choices about how to treat others and teaches how everyone has a place in this world if they can find it just. My 6th year old first grade son, who is advanced in reading, struggled to read it, but was able to sound many of the words. We'll probably practice for a few years with this book.

A take to bed book for young ones.
I bought several I can read books when my boys were young, The Fire Cat was their favorite, but I thought about the book when I began to buy two copies to send to a grandson and two of my great-grandchildren. Not only is this book easy to read, but it has a message that young adults pick up. It is a wonderful book that should be in every child's library. It is a book to put down ( take '' )!

   Great beginner book!
What a cute book! This book is about a stray cat named Pickles who used to be a jerk, but better known himself. My 6 year old was able to get through this without issue, it takes a but is a lot longer than other books I Can Read Level 1. The pictures are great, the book is funny and it is cute.

   terrific book
I recalled this book 20 years ago to my sons and read it fondly. I recently thought about it and wondered if it was still available for my grand daughter. I found it to my delight. It is a powerful story with a great message. This street cat that couldn 't make it on the domestic scene took the love and attention it received from Mrs. Goodkind and found its niche in the firehouse. We are all a little bad and a little good. There is a place for us to at least pickles.

   Great!
The idea of Mrs. Goodkind entered our language long ago when my children loved this book. Don 't think that this name makes it sweetish. It is a v. matter-of-fact story of a cat who is not good but not either bad, but persists in trying to become a good fire - house cat and eventually manages to do so. It is now my son's little girl who likes the book.

   Delightful!
A friend recommended this book as one her daughter loved and is now sharing with her own children. Since my grandson loves everything to do with firemen, I gave him this at Christmas. It was a huge hit for the band.

I was pleased to find a copy to gift to my grand-angel
Back in 1960, I won a copy of this book for reading most books in my first grade class. I was pleased to find a copy to gift to my cousin Angel, and she enjoyed the book as well as my story of the book's family history.
