The world's most trusted guide for leaders in transition

Transitions are a critical time for leaders. In fact, most agree that moving into a new role is the biggest challenge a manager will face. While transitions offer a chance to start fresh and make needed changes in an organization, they also place leaders in a position of acute vulnerability. Missteps made during the crucial first three months in a new role can jeopardize or even derail your success.

In this updated and expanded version of the international bestseller The First 90 Days, Michael D.    The first book you should read after being promoted
I recommend this to my engineering management colleagues many more times after reading it twice. I can't say that it will have the same impact on everyone, but engineers seem to find these analytic methods easy to digest. I like the idea of having separate conversations with your new boss. They start with questions to learn situational awareness, and save the conversation about resources that the boss will give until later. Save yourself a trip to the mine field and read this after your promotion.

   Worth 9 minutes; no more
At the very least a skim read. The author doesn't understand where it wants to place the book. It is between very basic information on managing change and more coordinated leadership activities. The basics are too basic for a real manager. The check-lists and mini-frameworks are not very innovative. There was nothing revolutionary.

Amazing book that structures your first 90 days in many dimensions
The book is becoming the must-read for transitions of all levels. I read the book from cover to cover, and it outlines your approach to all your relationships, strategies, concerns and timelines. The contents are built around 8 strategies for success, personal discipline, and a support network that will help me transition into a potential new role.

Useful book I will keep for future transitions
Specific and general advice was offered in this book. Information was given to understand the type of transition you are making and suggested plans based on that. At this point in my career, some advice was less useful because my transition does not involve managing personnel or setting large scale direction of the organization. Managing expections, making early contributions and developing organizational intelligence were the most important advice I received. I would recommend this book to anyone who is going through a transition in their career.

Must read ... even if you don't transit your job
I was told to read this book before my job change. I was skeptical to start, but I like it a lot and think it's useful for anyone who manages people.

   Useful, yet slightly academic
Several useful tips and tools do not flow as well as you would like.

   Has many useful stratagies
Sometimes it was too focused on marketing or sales. I can implement some ideas in my new position.

Good check box for every transition
It's a good check box to remember when making transitions. It is worth reading. For any new leadership role, not just for CEO.
