The Forgotten Trinity: Recovering The Heart Of Christian Belief
Book Overview
Discover the Living Truth of a Foundational Christian Belief
The Trinity is one of the most important teachings of the Christian faith. It defines God's very essence and describes how he relates to us.
In this book, Dr. James R. White offers a concise, understandable explanation of what the Trinity is and why it matters. While refuting the distortions of God presented by various cults, Dr. White shows how understanding this teaching leads to renewed worship and a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Christian. And amid today's emphasis on the renewing work of the Holy Spirit, The Forgotten Trinity is a balanced look at all three persons of the Trinity.
May this book deepen your understanding of this important doctrine while also drawing you closer to the triune God himself.
No doctrine is more fundamental to the Faith than the Trinity. And there is no more brief, clear, biblical, and practical explanation of the Trinity than in these pages.--DR. NORMAN L. GEISLER, Christian apologist and author of Systematic Theology
White's clear argument demonstrates that the historic Christian doctrine of the Trinity is fully and inescapably biblical. The refutation of Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons is very helpful.--DR. J.I. PACKER, retired professor, Regent College

Could have been better
Derived From Web , Apr 4, 2021
I'm a MTS student and I knew when I bought this book that it was written for the average person who has not been baptized into academia or philosophy, but I expected much more from it. White could have adopted the Swinburne route and gone the pure philosophy to defend the coherence of the Trinity, but he did not do so. He does not see parallels in other religions, such as Hinduism, which also has a Trinity. Such a comparison would, at least, eliminate the charges that the Trinity was created by drunken monks with no precedent in the ancient world. While I am by no means endorsing Swinburne's defense of the Trinity, of the two, his is far better than White's.

Solid handling of John 1
Derived From Web , Jul 7, 2018
The book was recommended to me by my pastor when I mentioned that I was studying the gospel of John. He answered the questions I had developed from reading the passage and studying several commentaries on it. If you are looking for a solid, biblical understanding of the trinity, I recommend reading this. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because it is a fairly dry read but is short so that it doesn 't take long to get through. You will definitely want to keep your pen ready to take notes as you read them. In such a short book, there is a lot to absorb.

Outstanding book
Derived From Web , Apr 26, 2017
I first saw Dr. White on a YouTube video talking about Jehovah's witnesses. I was raised as JW and left in my 20s after being completely and thoroughly disillusioned with them. For 25 years, I wanted nothing to do with any religion. Hearing Dr. White blows me away because he knew exactly what he was talking about and it was like he was describing me in the video. I then bought this book, which blew me further away. One point he makes that is so true that JWs and others who attack the Trinity are in fact not attacking the true doctrine of the Trinity, but a form of modalism. I have now read many books on the Trinity, but not one is as clear, concise and makes almost as much sense as this. I credit Dr. White with helping me see the lies and deception of my childhood and thank him for showing me the glory that is our triune God.
