Do you ever talk before you think? Mess up? Let others down?
That's what Peter did, again and again and again, and it led him to abandoning his best friend, Jesus.
Peter loved Jesus. He felt terrible when he pretended not to know him. He thought all was lost when Jesus died.
But after Jesus rose from the dead, he went and found Peter and forgave him. He explained that his death took the punishment for all of Peter's mistakes and that his resurrection showed that the penalty was lifted.
Peter spent the rest of his life telling people that if they put their trust in Jesus, they could be forgiven too--again and again and again.
Children know all about failing, but they don't always experience true forgiveness. This book points them to Jesus, the friend who will forgive them again and again and again.

A beautiful picture of forgiveness....
Derived From Web , Dec 9, 2021
The book details how Jesus Christ forgave the sins of the world's leaders. Peter, one of Christ's disciples, spoke before he thought — getting into trouble. He forook Christ despite protestations to the contrary. He forgave him and He has also forgiven Mepham. This story will be appreciated by one of our young granddaughters. Even with the introduction of the fifth child, the text is enough for her to read and comprehend.

Wonderful book
Derived From Web , May 18, 2021
I still can't get over the fact that the books are my absolute favorites to read to my daughter. My daughter is 3 and LOVES these books, she requests at least one of them daily. The artwork in these books is beautifully done and each story is made simple enough for small children to grasp concepts of deep learning, he said. We're not huge fans of the book, but we loved this book specifically because of the different approach it took to telling the majority of Peter's story. So many children’s Biblebooks leave out Peter’s denial and Christ’s forgiveness and that is always so shocking to me because it is one of my most favorite stories in the Bible! The writing is so well done, emphasizing everything that should be and written in a well-flowing, memorable way, he said. The repetition throughout the book is what makes it so good. It sticks in my daughters head and she can recite parts of the book by memory. We're going to keep them forever.

A must-buy for Easter, forgiveness, and friendship
Derived From Web , Mar 28, 2021
A great book, Gillian. He goes over forgiveness and how our words can hurt relationships, but also teaches us that loving people mean forgiving others, just like Jesus. He held the attention of my 4 and 6 year olds, and led to good conversations as a family. I especially like that it talks about Peter denying friendship with Jesus three times, and then Jesus gives him the opportunity to say I love you again. It's definitely good for Holy Week for Easter, but really any time of the year and a foundational truth about Christianity, he said.

Great book!
Derived From Web , Dec 29, 2020
Of all the books in the series, "The Fifth Seal" stands in a class by itself. Even though the book is not recommended for children, it is important for them to learn about the grace and forgiveness of Jesus. We're all huge fans of the story, and we reference it all the time in our home. But this book stands in a class by itself. My son is 5 by the way, and he has a very good grasp of the story.

Not my favorite
Derived From Web , Dec 2, 2020
What I found most disturbing about this book was that it kept saying Jesus was my friend. He is much more than that, Mr. Rule told the judge. And I didn't want to simplify or dumb down so much to speak to my child when it is much more than that.

Best Kids Book of All Time!
Derived From Web , Oct 28, 2020
It has a message that is encouraging for both children and adults alike. It has opened the door for good discussion about what it means to be selfless, how to be a good vs. bad friend, obedience, and forgiveness. The illustration is fantastic, and the content is outstanding, he said.

My kids and I absolutely love the book. Now when someone made mistakes and I seemed upset my son could remind me of Peter and Jesus, He said. Peter made mistakes, but Jesus forgave him.

MUST HAVE
Derived From Web , Jan 4, 2019
It's great to be back reading with my boys again and again. It is so hard to find good bible stories with good illustration, that stick to the story, and keep the children engaged and learning, Mrs. Goin added. It has all the trappings of a James Bond movie: suave exterior, tight trousers, and a touch of Hollywood glamour. What a great customer service!

I absolutely love this book. I bought 2 as a present for nieces and nephews. Great job, said Dr. Steve Smith, director of NASA's Ames Research Center in California. It's just that they call it quits."

Excellent book!
Derived From Web , Sep 1, 2018
This book is a clear and compelling account of Peter's relationship with Jesus,' said Dr. Pauley. Even in the face of adversity, children will realize the love of Christ by seeing His unfailing love for Peter. Our children enjoy reading this book, and I love to read it to them. The entire series is great, and this book is excellent, too.
