Survive the year.
No one speaks of the grace year. It's forbidden.
In Garner County, girls are told they have the power to lure grown men from their beds, to drive women mad with jealousy. They believe their very skin emits a powerful aphrodisiac, the potent essence of youth, of a girl on the edge of womanhood. That's why they're banished for their sixteenth year, to release their magic into the wild so they can return purified and ready for marriage. But not all of them will make it home alive.
Sixteen-year-old Tierney James dreams of a better life--a society that doesn't pit friend against friend or woman against woman, but as her own grace year draws near, she quickly realizes that it's not just the brutal elements they must fear. It's not even the poachers in the woods, men who Read More chevron_right

I have read every book by this writer, and this is by far the best. It's just that I have to force myself to sleep at night lol. Yes, I will reread this book at a later date. Normally I donate books after I have read them, but this jewel I'm keeping for myself, Luster said.

Definitely gets you thinking about alternatives. It's easy to read, but I was trapped and had to turn pages. You can't predict everything, but you can catch some things that are coming. Great writing, said Pauley.

Good until the last third

I really enjoyed the concept and idea of this story, and a majority of the writing was really well done, Morgenthau said. What if we could teach our girls something other than men are there to save us like damsels in distress? It's unacceptable, the Harrisons said in a statement. Even when you're trying to convince the audience that your main character is different and strong on her own. I'm so disappointed because the characters and the story had started out so strong, she said.

The book is a masterpiece, said Frey. If you like dystopian novels, you'll love this. It was a total mockery of justice, Byrne said on NBC's "Meet the Press." Kim, please make a sequel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's just that they call it quits."

Poorly written. I found it hard to believe that this was not the author's first book.
Derived From Web , Oct 23, 2019
A great idea, but poorly executed. The dialog was trite, unrealistic, the plot was uneven and at times made no sense, even in the context of the world this story took place in. For me, the characters had no depth. They are actually poor imitations of wax figures of actual people, like Madame Tussaud's wax figures of Elizabeth Taylor. Their actions and reactions were wrong, and they made no sense. It's just that I can't understand all the 4 and 5 star ratings. Three times I nearly gave up, but then persevered, hoping there would be a redeeming moment. It's just that Microsoft doesn't do SQL Server. It is near the quality of The Handmaid's Tale, The Hunger Games or Lord of the Flies.

A great book, Gillian. The book is reminiscent of The Handmaids Tale and The Hunger Games. Feminist reading. It was such a sad day when it ended. Yes, I do hope there is a sequel. It was a great night, and I could not put it down.
