LOVE IT!

I lent this book to my first child. I never got it back because they loved it so much. He shows that if you follow the 5 S's, you can help the baby. Babies manifest their fear of being out of the womb by crying and going through denial about not being fed or held. The shift from womb to home can be made easier with the use of these 5 S's. He uses evidence from cultures around the world where there is no crying or purple crying, and helps parents understand that crying or purple crying is normal. I needed to buy this one again and replenish my library. The sequel, Happiest Toddler on the Block, is something I love. Dr. Karp is an amazing doctor.

Really made me think
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
My daughter is three weeks old and she is very picky. My first born was not like this. He didn't sleep very well, but he wasn't upset about it. Everything I knew about babies didn't apply when she was born. The book has made me rethink how I view small infants. The techniques have been helping out a lot so far. I don't recommend this for parents who don't agree with attachment parenting, but many of the techniques could be used to help a baby. You just need to apply what works for you to your own situation. It may seem like common sense with what he is trying to teach, but it's really the technique in how you do it. I was attempting the five S's but doing them wrong. The advice in the book helped me learn how to better approach calming my baby.

EXCELLENT... if it were a 10 page handout
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
The problem isn't that the advice is bad, it's that it's excellent and very practical. He just repeats and repeats the same points and sometimes slips in another useful info. A 10-page handout is what this should be. If I could give you enough directions to do this in this comment box, I would save you from buying the whole book. It has worked for my daughter so far. What happens after she passes her three month mark? The title of the book needs to be changed to better reflect the content. If your baby is less than three months old, you may want to look elsewhere.

I would pay triple for this
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
I would pay a lot more for this video. The video works because my husband and I did everything in it. I wore my daughter in a sling all the time and I'm sure that helped. We watched the video several times and it was comforting to know what to do when the baby is going crazy. I would recommend it to all new parents. It doesn't work in 10 seconds if you don't practice it. Once you get the hang of it, the baby will calm down. This is awesome. It's!

So simple and it WORKS!
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
Desperate to find any advice for calming my newborn, I bought this book after 2 friends recommended it to me. Everything makes sense because it is written in an easy-to-read style. The first time we tried the 5 S's--lo, our baby became calm and fell asleep. We use the technique that Dr. Karp explains and don't experience as much fuss at sleep time as we used to. It used to take an hour or more to get him to sleep. This is the most helpful advice I have received. I found the book. It's possible to try it.

This book made me feel like a baby whisperer
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
The first part of the book focuses on how to deal with babies who are crying. Our baby didn't have a problem. The next part of the book talks about soothing techniques for babies. The little guy liked them. He has been an easy baby, but we started using the techniques in the book immediately after reading it. They worked well for our little guy.

Great read!
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
When I was in college, I had to read this book in class. I didn't think so. Not another book to read. The book is enjoyable. Although I don't have children at the moment, I gave myself a new perspective on how to handle a baby who is sick. It will allow the parents to spend more time with their baby. I keep this book on my shelf in case I need to pull it out when I become a mother.

Might have been better during pregnancy...
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
I was trying to figure out why my baby wouldn't sleep when I read this book. She had food allergies. The suggestions in the book did not help. I would have liked to have read this book while I was pregnant. I think I would have had a better idea of suggestions and tips from the beginning. I kept this to reference for the next baby because I found it to be a quick read.
