Better than the first
Derived From Web , Jan 12, 2022
The second book was more interesting than the first. I was in the company of the characters a lot more. The puzzles were difficult. The characters were more entertaining than the action and danger. The WWF was mentioned for the olds who remember the worldwide wrestling federation. I liked the budding romances, but I didn't like the idea of the main character getting a yes for a kiss after being pushed against a wall. This was thought before the scene was aborted.

Even better than the first
Derived From Web , Jan 3, 2022
This book is a lot more fun to read than the first one because of the fast paced, short chapters with mysteries and riddles. A side of romance, attempted murder, kidnapping, and many secrets being revealed helped make this an amazing book.

not as consistent a story as the first
Derived From Web , Jan 2, 2022
Some of the twists and turns were contrived. The end was rushed and seemed to add new stuff for the next book. The end chapters were disappointing.

A good place to stop, but of course I’ll take more!
Derived From Web , Dec 31, 2021
If he ever wrote a Dan Brown novel, this would be the one. In the new and surprising way, I make this comparison not in all the historical research he provides, but in the new way. It is in the way that you can't stop wondering. The book continues the mysteries of the games. I am not sure what Barnes will include in the third novel because it ends in a good place. If the book ends here, I wouldn't be upset about it. It's time to read it. Read it. Read it! There is a p.s. The audio is great.

Loved It Just As Much As The First One!
Derived From Web , Dec 30, 2021
I don't finish books quickly unless they hold my attention and this one was one of those books. I prefer stand alone novels to a series because often a book can go downhill when they try and turn something that should have been a stand alone into a series, but the author has done a great job holding my interest with both books. Looking forward to the last one.

Page Turner!
Derived From Web , Dec 22, 2021
I loved the first book more than this one. It hit the ground running because I was already invested in everything. The plot moves and surprises at every turn, taking the concept of a fun page-turner to the next level. I had to abandon my work and plans to finish the book in a single day because I couldn't put it down. I'm happy to hear that a third book is in the works.

Mmmm…
Derived From Web , Nov 3, 2021
I rate with a 3. At best, it is an ambiguous rating. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. I would have rated it 1 as a stand alone book. It was not as good as the first. There are more relationships, less puzzles and very contrived. For a book about a girl plucked from obscurity and poverty to inherit billions from a dead man, it has to be pretty bad. We got a lot of answers in the second book of the series. I don't think there would be a third book. There is no place left to go. Unfortunately for the rest of us, things like that happen all the time in the publishing world. I had purchased the first book. I regret it. I would have been happy to read it from the library. I will not read this one again.

What a Ride!
Derived From Web , Oct 30, 2021
This was a great read. One huge roller coaster ride is needed to reach the solution of all the puzzles and mysteries. The Hawthorne brothers steal your heart because they are strong and willful. It was enjoyable.

another intriguing mystery with a feminist twist?
Derived From Web , Oct 25, 2021
Another great puzzle story was written by Jen Lynn Barnes. There are lots of adventure, romance and puzzles. I only gave it four stars because of a pet peeve. The female lead was put in dangerous situations where she insisted she didn't need protection. Are your life in danger? That is not smart. Boys want to make sure those they care about are protected. To tell them they can't is not nice. Think about that.
