Book Overview

From the creator of the acclaimed graphic novel The Witch Boy comes a new adventure set in the world of magic and shapeshifting -- and ordinary kids just trying to make friends.

Aster and his family are adjusting to his unconventional talent for witchery; unlike the other boys in his family, he isn't a shapeshifter. He's taking classes with his grandmother and helping to keep an eye on his great-uncle whose corrupted magic wreaked havoc on the family. Meanwhile, Aster's friend from the non-magical part of town, Charlie, is having problems of her own -- a curse has tried to attach itself to her. She runs to Aster and escapes it, but now the friends must find the source of the curse before more people -- normal and magical alike -- get hurt.

Personally, I haven 't read them, but I guess it works if you are into these types of stories.
Great for my 10 year old!
My son, who prefers not to read, read this book in fewer than 20 minutes from cover to cover. We have read the hour before bed during the shower time. I haven’t read another book... he was so disappointed that she just went to sleep.
   Love this series!
It was super cute, from the story line to the graphics.
   Compassion and courage
My son and I love Ms. Ostertag's series about the boy - witch. This magical world existing at the periphery of our ordinary, mundane world, captured the imagination of my son. In the fantasy genre, we need more books like this, balancing the ranks of archetypical male warriors and elves and rogues with characters who are a little bit different.
   My students’ favorite
I am a teacher and bought this book for a one-on-one tuition with a fourth-grader who loved it. She pushed me to buy it after reading the first story, and she liked the second story just as much as the first.
I was so excited to find this second after the witch boy. He was just reading that one over and over again. Now he can add something more to the list of books to read!
   Lovely, sweet story!
My daughter and I read it in two sessions. Can 't believe that we liked this book better than the first, which was already awesome.
   A great sequel!
Another great book by Molly Ostertag! This was a really good sequel to The Witch Boy and my children have read both over and over again. I also loved it. I also loved seeing Aster come as a witch into his own. My children and I hope there are more books about these characters.
   Even better than the first
While I love the first book, its nice to see other characters added to the cast and others getting more development. Her art has also improved! If there is ever a third, I buy it probably too.
   My likes and dislikes😊
What I don 't like is that I don 't know if their book is another book, I would recommend reading this book to people who like witches and graphic novels.
