   it gives me great joy to discover these saints
I am a woman and have a twin brother, so it makes me happy to discover saints. Tomie dePaola's books are some of my favorites and this book is no exception. The simplicity of his illustration draws me in.

   Good way to teach the faith
My nephew is 10 and I bought this book for him. He attends a Catholic school. His parents are not very religious. I am trying to teach my nephew and niece the faith. This book will be well received since the artwork is done by Tomi Depaola. The content is enjoyable. It was just a little dry. The artwork will help at this location.

Tomie has great illustrations and the book focuses more on St. Benedict than his sister. It is great to show children how the twins grew up. Cute tale...

   I've used this book so often!
Younger readers will love the story of Saints Benedict and Scholastica. She makes the hagiography accessible. Tomie De Paola's illustrations are wonderful.

   Not what I expected
I wouldn't read the book to a small child. Abuse is a part of the storyline, but it would be better for 5 th grade or up. Is that right?

Our son asked if he could get this book for his grand daughter, and it was a great book, interesting, and taught a little bit of religion. One book has two great attributes. Awesome pictures as well.
