Book Overview

This award-winning science book uses the latest findings from neuroscience research and brain-imaging technology to take you on a journey into the human brain.

CGI illustrations and brain MRI scans reveal the brain's anatomy in unprecedented detail. Step-by-step sequences unravel and simplify the complex processes of brain function, such as how nerves transmit signals, how memories are laid down and recalled, and how we register emotions. The book answers fundamental and compelling questions about the brain: what does it mean to be conscious, what happens when we're asleep, and are the brains of men and women different?

This is an accessible and authoritative reference book to a fascinating part of the human body. Thanks to improvements in scanning technology, our understanding of the brain is changing quickly. Now in its third edition, The Human Brain Book provides an up-to-date guide to one of science's most exciting frontiers. With its coverage of more than 50 brain-related diseases and disorders--from strokes to brain tumors and schizophrenia--it is also an essential manual for students and healthcare professionals.

   Great Gift!
I bought this as a present for a student who loved it. She is pursuing her master's degree in neuroscience and plans to graduate in May.

if you are just interested in brain function or you are going to study neurology, this book is best choice ever and worth more than it's. There are a lot of reasons why this book is valuable, perfect brain image and well organized.

   Awesome
The book is a stunning example of how to properly structure a book. It was bigger than I thought it was going to be. Great pictures, great information.

   Neurology/Biological Psychology Must Have
The book is well-written and the pacing is good. Very detailed and beautiful pictures of the ship. Each chapter has 2 pages, followed by a sub-chapter. Right now, you can find the "Contact" section under the "General" tab. Easy to understand, Pearson says. I'll be using it with my students, and they're having a great time. Will be looking for more DK publishing books for future health science courses, he said. Worth every penny, Tunick said. The Venango County man said he will not regret the investment.

   Well worth it!
This was a gift for a young doctor of the brain, Raymond said. She really enjoyed it, very informative, and she really needs to read more books. I purchased this book at a great discount, and I'm glad I did.

   Fascinating Read!
Wow! That was pretty impressive, right? The book is a great resource for learning all about our human brain. I like how the chapters are divided up into colorful sections with vivid images while explaining all about how the brain works, its structures, functions and even aesthetics. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

Beautiful photography, and succinct, easy-to-understand explanations
But I can flip it open to any page and learn something new. I am a writer of sci-fi, and I wanted to incorporate brain imaging technology into my fiction, so I checked it out from my local library. So long, I decided I needed to own a copy so I could reference it at any time. The book itself is so chock-full of information, I have not even begun to investigate it. Imagine, one said, what a career in the neurological sciences would have been like had there been fMRI technology and a book like this been around when I was young. It's a great deal of work, said Robert Reichert, director of the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. Very good book, highly recommend.
