May I never flush another water toilet
Amazing, wonderful, and resourceful read. We are finishing the construction of our compost toilet, which was constructed from a repurposed wood-core shelving unit. My only regret is that I read this after purchasing a diverting toilet seat. I also want to say that composting is a simple process... but DON 'T shortcut it. This book changed the way I think and sit down.

Highly recommend this book if you want to learn about composting
The book is full of really good and interesting info. I have opened the book and next i knew i has half way through it, and I am not much of a reader, but i just couldn t put it down. And I have greatly increased my knowledge of composting. Some things in this book i already knew, but there was so much more to learn.

Dense. If you're not a science person, I'd pass
It is not the fault of the author. It is just a heads up good lord, more science than I ever needed or wanted to know. I am just not one of them. I put it halfway through.

   This is doable!
I am so glad that I bought and read through this edition of the Humanure Handbook. It makes sense completely and is doable when you include yourself in the cycle of food! Many of us gardeners use our own urine for composting, so why wouldn t it be the same for our solids? I plan to use it to make a human compost pile and to love a loo in my own bathroom. I gave it 4 stars because the author spent much time in stating that our solid human waste is not waste, but an organic material that is recyclable. Making sure we see the correct terminology is key to understanding this resource. He calls it s**t '', however, which finds me opposite of what he is saying.

Most informative book on Composting Human Manure there is!
As well, he explains the microscopic world that makes the Earth and the Biosphere work as it does. It is not only a great byproduct, but is kind to the environment and protects and conserves water. Don 't even consider another book on this subject.

   The conscious solution
We are raised to believe that our sewerseptic system is the right and best way to do things, but is actually a very polluting method. The composting human excrement is nonpolluting, the microbes kill pathogens and the final result is beneficial and kind for the planet. This technique is the conscious way to live more in harmony with the rest of life on the planet. We cannot continue polluting and destroying as we do, as there is no planet B. I wish that every citizen of the country had a copy of this book.

Makes crapping in a bucket sound like a reasonable, nay, good idea
Well researched, interesting and funny. Not sure I am making humanure, but if you were living off grid or any other number of situations in which you might want to try this, this is truly and simply your book! How many people can write several books about spouting in a bucket?

Solutions to Conservation ... save what resources we still have left
Book is excellent!! 5 stars are educational, entertaining, and informative. Joseph writes from practical, hands-on knowledge. The key to their experience is experience. I highly recommend the book to anyone. It is the future folks, it is something many people do not like to think about, but if you do not think soon, you will not be prepared.
