The new comprehensive bible of interior design, from a home-styling guru who has coached an entire Scandinavian generation in the art of creating a harmonious home
Frida Ramstedt believes in thinking about how we decorate rather than focusing on what we decorate with. The Interior Design Handbook teaches you general rules of thumb--like what the golden ratio and the golden spiral are, the proper size for a coffee table in relation to your sofa, the optimal height to hang lighting fixtures, and the best ways to use a mood board--complete with helpful illustrations. Use The Interior Design Handbook to achieve a balanced, beautiful home no matter where you live or what your style is.It takes about 4 Hours and 55 minutes on average for a reader to read The Interior Design Handbook: Furnish, Decorate, and Style Your Space. Cool book, but the chapter about COLORS is printed in BLACK AND WHITE? What's the point?
Derived From Web , Dec 9, 2021
This book is a great reference for a design novice. I love the basic explanation and illustrations. There's a whole chapter on COLORS, and it's printed in GraySCALE. There's a big color wheel page with different wedges of gray labeled with text. I understand printing in black and white was a good choice, but what is the point of a graphics explaining color that isn't in color?

Good but could have been great
Derived From Web , Oct 5, 2021
She was trying to make the layout of the book better. By leaving out photographic examples of the design principles she's laying out, she wants to zero in on the principles in the abstract and avoid real world examples which could be trendy or outdated. This is a great idea, in theory. I was frustrated because I didn't see her concepts in action and the few illustrations didn't help. It was a little wet. I learned a number of useful things. I'm glad I read this and recommend it.

Decent

If you don't know anything about interior design and want to learn everything you can about it, this book is for you. If you are looking for tips and tricks for interior design, this book is not for you. I found it boring.

Practical Information, Wonderful Reference
Derived From Web , Jul 17, 2021
I immediately knew this book was what I was looking for when I opened it. I can find pretty images online, but miss the mark because I am not applying the principles behind the design. Clean line drawings help me focus on the principle. It was a game-changer!

Good for the basics
Derived From Web , Jun 25, 2021
I was intrigued when I saw this book linked to an IG account. We're moving to a new place and need to redecorate. I think I'm good at decorating, but I need help. There are drawings and tips in the book. If you're a total beginner, I think it would be useful, but if you have a design background, it's probably not worth it. I'm happy with my purchase.

I was looking for this. This is the perfect handbook for someone who wants a grasp on the underlying principles that make good, balanced interior design, even though there are many pretentious or industry-focused instructional books available. Having read this book, I feel more prepared to take on my home remodeling project. I'm so thankful that someone wrote this interior design.
