Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

What happens when a sheepish knight and a not-so-fierce dragon fight for the very first time? Well, it's no ordinary battle since the knight has to go to the castle library to learn about dragon-fighting and the dragon must dig through his ancestor's things to find out how to fight a knight Spontaneity of line and feeling are backed by zesty colors and a jovial, tongue-in-cheek tone to which children can relate--a top springtime choice. --Booklist There's a swirl of good-humored life to the book. --The New York Times Book Review

The Knight and the Dragon Didn't Let Me Down!
For Halloween this year, we decided to make my 6 year old a knight and my almost 2 year old a dragon. We're big fantasy nerds, so they enjoyed really enjoying the romanticism of it. We wanted to compliment their costumes with this book and we are very happy that we did! It is a story about a knight learning to fight a dragon and a dragon learning to fight a knight. If your children like fantasy or feel good children's stories, this is an excellent route to take!

   like many little boys
My almost 4-year-old son loves this book. He is interested in knights and fighting, like many little boys. As a parent, I appreciate a book that does not glorify fighting, but still recognizes that children are captured by the knights of old, who have fought with swords and lances, and plays with this interest. Don 't look for lectures on fighting or serious displays of sword technique.

   I liked his other books
I liked his other books, e.g. Strega Nona, the Legend of the Blue Bonnet, but not this one at all. There are almost no words and the story combines an odd mix of things, many of which seem out of place in the book.

   Book is okay.
I did not realize that so many of the pages are blank and have no story to tell. I guess you have to make up your own. Also the cover is flimsy and I thought it would be a hard cover, which is necessary when you have little children who tear anything they see.

This book is unique in a small way. It starts with a story with words and pictures. I was very confused for a few minutes, then figured out it was to give the child the opportunity to describe what was going on by looking at the pictures. Very sweet little book!

Cute story and pictures, but did not engage our 5 year old as much as I expected. I had filled in a lot of words to explain what was happening in the pictures.

   Such an adorable book!
My 3 year old knight loved so much this book! He made me read it daily, for months! He's about to turn 5 again and we found it just recently and he was so excited! Haha, it is funny how little this can make such a big impact. To this day, my son loves anything and everything related to BBQ, thanks to this book! , ''

Not as good as Strega Nona
If you like Strega Nona, this is good, but not that good. The real reason I bought it '' was to pair our Ostheimer Dragon and Knight on Horse with. A dual turns into a barbecue for the towns folk, so there is no real danger of your kiddo seeing this book as violent-lightly comical, maybe.
