When I was pregnant with my son, and the two oldest ones where in elementary school during the day, I had time to spend with him. The Beatles' music "was one of our favorites," said Harrison. He said we were living on a nine-acre piece of land in Florida and would often take our own listening in those woods, paying attention to the sounds of the surrounding trees. That original copy of the book has been lost, but I wanted to revisit the theme and experience with my grandchildren, especially the two youngest, who just turned 5 years old. Buy the book, read the book with a child or children you love, and then go take your own listening and do so often, she said. It's great to practice listening in a world that is often so fast-paced and so loud, Raymond said.

Teaches children to LISTEN to sounds around them
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
Really good book, love the illustrations by Aliki. She starts to put on her walking shoes and head outside with her dad and dog. A lot of the time, the difference is between indoor and outdoor sounds. I'm looking forward to using it at the birding center to help children hear the sounds of the birds singing. Compare it with the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine." In the end, she is back in her room and says, "You don't even have to take a walk to hear sounds." There are sounds everywhere. Just keep on listening. Such a cute face! It's just that they put it there: "True." It's great to be back home, said Blair.

Fun Sounds To Read Aloud
Derived From Web , Apr 29, 2021
This is our book for beginning readers. The group takes turns making the various funny sounds throughout the walk. It's great to read aloud, even if you're not a writer. Also, it's a good length. Many of the kids books nowadays seem to be short on pages but this was a good amount.

Using their senses, they can find out more about their surroundings, a great concept for pre-k. Using the book as an introduction to a class walk outside is a wonderful option, and underscores an amazing amount of learning to be done about habitat and community, he said.
