We know that the TV show starts at Book 3, but the first book is amazing. I have been reading with my son and we have learned so much about supporting a family and living off the land.

   Must reads for young readers!
Some of the best stories for young readers are : Laura Ingalls Wilder bases her stories on personal experience, so that these stories provide a first-hand perspective of American life during the late 1800s.

Excellent early reader series for children just getting acquainted with chapter books : From a child's perspective, true American history is presented from a genuine American viewpoint. These are classics. Sturdy with large pictures and colorful font. My daughter had already read them twice and asked for the next four in the series. Great coming of age stories about having good character and working hard to overcome difficulty. Builds the value of education into a child. Why can 't modern children's authors write with this level of quality and character? You won 't be disappointed, you won 't be disappointed.

Lovely classics on excellent, high-gloss, sturdy, durable paper
These are the childhood classics, on super high paper of the highest quality, they are durable and glossy. The garth williams illustrations have also been softly colored and are still beautiful. This is an absolute keeper and is an absolute keeper. And the durable paper quality makes this worth storing -- it should last for at least a generation or two.

   Olden days come to life.
I was pleasantly surprised at how detailed the books were about their every day life. If you are interested in the daily workings of how the pioneers got their food, clothes, etc. These books should really make you enjoy yourself. They were such modern workers, hard conveniences, really are marvelous. Very enjoyable books, awesomely realistic of the olden days.

Although I usually like books exactly like the original
Although I usually like books exactly like the original, I like this original story, but with the color illustrations for my granddaughters. It's the same illustrations we all love, but the color makes it a little more interesting for this new generation of readers. Thumbs up for this favorite classic! Thumbs up for this favorite classic!

Age appropriate for older than 10 years old
This book uses words that are not appropriate for young children. The word Massacre, as the same book says, was not mentioned in front of Mary or Laura. They were considered too young to be exposed to this word, and were considered too young to be exposed to it. It also uses very native terms to refer to derogative Americans. It is also some parts that could be frightening for young readers, such as when the two girls decided to kill the dog because Jack would kill the Indians, before giving them this book to read. It is a very well written book and I am glad I got it. The farmer's boy book was even more violent when children beat teachers and mention the teacher. I will remove these books rom my daughter and we will read something sublime not violent, but if I had known it, I would have given it to my child when she is old enough to understand and discuss these topics, and when she is emotionally desensitized enough so that it does not cause emotional harm.

Beautiful Quality Paperback Set with Color Illustrations!
This five book set is composed of the first five novels in the Little House series. Though a paperback, the books are of good quality, printed on sturdy, glossy paper with the charming illustrations by Garth Williams in full color! For this set, great price for this set. Very satisfied ''.

A Timeless Story for mom, dad, and the kids.
I read this series to my children and am beyond thrilled that my daughter is reading it to her boys ages 3 and 5. They love it. They love it. The story is instructive, interesting and the life of a pioneer family is very compelling in this heavy tech age. My grand boys love to read and they love to work about danger and adventure and hard, enjoyable labor. This classic will delight all age children, parents, and grandparents. It is an autobiographical story that stimulates the imagination and brings you close to what life was like on the solitary prairie. The illustrations are sweet and wonderful. A winner!!! ! !
