   They LOVE these books
I've had second-graders read the entire series. It's just creepy enough to keep their interest, but not enough to scare them away. The boys LOVE these books, they beg me for them. They have illustrations on every page, and I love how some pages are black with white writing, rather than the usual black writing on white pages. I really like the vocabulary used by Dr. Goin. My students reenact the books at recess, Mrs. Pearson said. LOVE these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only two books, "The Age of Enlightenment" by John Hein and "The Age of Reason" by Robert Hein, currently have AR tests.
My 5 year old loves this book
My 5 year old LOVES them. We usually read 2-3 chapters before bed, and he always begs me to read one more. I was able to find the third book at the library so we will be starting that one next. I recommend this book to all my school-aged children.
I could not pry my son away from this book.
My son has been reading since he was 2 years old, but very reluctantly. He'd rather be playing football. We try to get him to read 20 minutes a day, but it's usually like pulling teeth. Last night, he sat down and read the entire book, cover to cover in about an hour. I couldn't pry him away from the book to go to sleep.
a good story for my 6 year-old son
My son absolutely LOVES Spiderman, said the mother, Tracey. He can read some of it, and I can read some of it, too. He's holding on to his interest, and he wants to read more when the time comes.

My 7 year old son loved this book
My son absolutely loved the book. Even though he's not a huge Harry Potter fan, he was excited to find out there was a sequel. Thanks to Amazon, we get all our books. It's a really hard book to find.
   Great Series
My 2nd grade daughter and I are both huge fans of the series. Each day she must read 20 minutes. It's no problem getting Harper to read these books, she said.
   Great series!
My son and I have fallen in love with these books. A lot of it is just mechanical," he said, "but he reads a paragraph here and there." The words are easy enough, but being chapter books, he gets tired of reading so I advanced for his age only. We've read 4 or 5 books so far and he's always engaged and asks to read, Ms. O'Neill said. She also said that mom enjoys them all the time.
Best Books for kids who hate reading!
My son is 9 and has a very good academic record, but he is not a fan of reading. We have found some of the only books Mr. Hughes has ever read. One of the first times he read a book he said, "WHAT?! I've been reading for 20 minutes, Mr. Rule told me. It felt like 5, said Dr. Goin. Thanks for the support! It's a very cute and imaginative story line, too, Blair said. I feel like they would be suitable for all kids, especially those needing a slower transition to chapter books, because they have a picture every 2-3 pages which my son loves! Great for 2nd and 3rd graders, or a higher level 1st grade reader!
   written very well
My 6-year-old nephew really likes them, I got him 2 in the series he read them over the holidays and we discussed them. He is at an advanced reading level and it is hard to challenge him without going too far over his understanding. It seemed to hold his attention and he enjoyed the story.
