George Mumford takes a concept that can be offputting to some and makes it something everyone and anyone can relate to. I read this because I am very interested in mindfulness a true believer in its power but sometimes find it hard to explain it to those who are not yet convinced. I heard an interview with Mumford on NPR and decided to order the book. It is short, easy to read and makes mindfulness accessible to anyone and everyone. I have recommended this book to several people and will be giving it to my 13 year old son who is an avid basketball player. Even if you are not a basketball player or athlete of any kind you will find this book enlightening. In addition to great explanations of how to use mindfulness and incorporate it into your daily habits, Mumford's advice on life and handling problems will be useful to all.

George Mumford has written a must-read for athletes and all of us. He discusses mindfulness as an application to sports and life as an understandable conversation with the reader. He shares his own story and weaves the wisdom of the world's leading mindfulness teachers into a flow of aha moments that cultivate being in the moment and returning to that moment when we are distracted. There is a sense of humor in his writing and his personality leaps off of the pages. I have already bought copies for friends and I am grateful for George's gift to all of us.

Very much enjoyed how the author linked to mindfulness elements of Buddhist practice. His conceptualization of mindfulness as the Watcher between stimulus and response was a revelation to me. I would have liked a bit more on mindfulness.

A great book. Really synthesizes a lot of concepts and puts them into an easy package. This is required reading for any aspiring athlete, and old men like myself who still see ourselves as being in their prime. I'll be re-reading this one again and again.

Leading me to this book, with guidance and mindfulness. So much to learn and it starts right here, says Axel. You will be lead to other authors, books, cultures, religions and even movies that provide evidence and explanation. It covers the expanse of what is called mental health. I dont have all of the words to explain how I am grateful to have been lead to this book by powers that be... ask and the good spirits will guide you. God Bless You, Mr. Mumford.

Fantastic book
Derived From Web , Apr 28, 2021
This book is a great read for all athletes. I bought it to read with my 10 year old son and the humor and tone of the book resonated with him. If you're not familiar with mindfulness, he breaks it down very step by step. He studied with Jon Kabat Zinn so this guys knows what he's talking about. There are some stories of drug use and addiction that I personally feel comfortable talking to my child about, Raymond said. He also uses some language, mostly for emphasis and humor. The book has been a great family read, Mary. Yes, it's about mindfulness in sports, but it's really about being mindful in every aspect of our lives. Everyone benefited from it, Mr. Dhaliwal said. Highly recommend.

It's all about me
Derived From Web , Jun 23, 2020
This is less of a self-help book and more of a It's all about me story. Yes, I'm happy that the author overcame life challenges. It should be a book with a book's name like "My Story" or "How I Made It." If you're new to the search, try something more direct such as Jon Kabat-Zinn's Wherever You Go There.

Don’t waste your time
Derived From Web , Jun 28, 2019
Not a very good book. Provides very little insight into mindfulness techniques. The author whines about being allegedly mistreated by the police after admitting to being an unrepentant criminal. Most of the book is about working with Kobe and Jordan, working with the best players in the NBA.
