Agatha Christie's indelibly etched characters have entertained millions across the years and a love of her work has brought together generations of readers--a singular achievement for any author and an inspiration to writers across the literary landscape.--Jacqueline Winspear, New York Times bestselling author of the Maisie Dobbs novels

In this official edition featuring exclusive content from the Queen of Mystery, Hercule Poirot comes out of retirement in one of Agatha Christie's ten favorite novels, which was also voted by the British Crime Writers' Association as the Best Crime Novel of all Time.

Roger Ackroyd knew too much. He knew that the woman he loved had poisoned her brutal first husband. He suspected also that someone had been blackmailing her. Then, tragically, came the news that she had taken her own life with an apparent drug overdose.

However, the evening post brought Roger one last fatal scrap of information, but before he could finish reading the letter, he was stabbed to death. Luckily one of Roger's friends and the newest resident to retire to this normally quiet village takes over--none other than Monsieur Hercule Poirot . . .

Not only beloved by generations of readers, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd was one of Agatha Christie's own favorite works--a brilliant whodunit that firmly established the author's reputation as the Queen of Mystery.

   Classic Christie mon amie!
Agatha Christie was at her best. I am a fan of Marple and Poirot, but have never read this Christie novel. There's a lot of hype around this novel, and I can't argue that it's the best. The ending made me fall out of my bed. I was in my bedroom reading the last few pages. If you like Christie or are a fan of mysteries, you need to read this book. I like this publisher because of their attention to detail and the fact that they organize the stories by Poirot, Marple, etc. There is a left corner.
   Bad Kindle edition
The edition I bought for $3 in August 2020 was filled with gjeof% ijefoef eew%e and at least one duplicate chapter. The review only refers to the e- book edition of the book, which my friend recommended as her favorite Christie.
   Low Quality E-Book
The version of the book that I bought had layout problems. If you buy a digital copy from a publisher, be careful.
   Greatest mystery ever?
I decided it was time to read this book after hearing so much praise for it. It was a lot to live up to, the greatest mystery novel ever written. It failed. I know who is to blame for unreliable narrator stories. I disliked Hercule Poirot in this first book. He was a little man who wore me out after a few pages. His ability to solve mysteries seemed more like grabbing solutions out of thin air. I am aware of the times changing. I am definitely a reader of my time. Many books from this period are as readable today as they were when they were published, but this one definitely didn't stand the test of time. I would have been less disappointed if the hype hadn't been so overblown. I do not know. But no more Poirot for me.
Slow paced, but the ending made up for it!
I haven't read many crime novels before. Most of the time, I am very good at predicting the ending or identifying the bad guy, but this book caught me by surprise. The ending was completely unexpected. You feel like you are in the story because you are seeing all the details firsthand. I thought this would be a three star book, but the ending was the saving grace. If English is your second language, this book may be challenging. It wasn't that bad since it was written by a British writer in 1926.
   Murder Always a Christie Joy
I' ve read a few of Agatha Christie's novels, but I' ve been late to her. This one was one of her best. I enjoyed it a great deal. Others are better at that, so I won't say anything. Christie sold two billion copies of her works. Some think her old- fashioned now, but others think Shakespeare is as well. I enjoyed this book a lot, along with some of the others I read, including her first two with Poirot. Christie's maturity and sophistication have matured and he has more complexity, twists and intrigue in The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. She was a master, and while others have written more literary work, she remains an icon.
