The fourth book in the New York Times bestselling series The Secrets of the Nicholas Flamel--The Necromancer
San Francisco:
After fleeing to Ojai, then Paris, and escaping to London, Josh and Sophie Newman are finally home. And after everything they've seen and learned in the past week, they're both more confused than ever about their future. Neither of them has mastered the magics they'll need to protect themselves from the Dark Elders, they've lost Scatty, and they're still being pursued by Dr. John Dee. Most disturbing of all, however, is that now they must ask themselves, can they trust Nicholas Flamel? Can they trust anyone?
Alcatraz:
Dr. Dee underestimated Perenelle Flamel's power. Alcatraz could not hold her, Nereus was no match for her, and she was able to align herself with the most unlikely of allies. But she wasn't the only one being held on the island. Behind the prison's bars and protective sigils were a menagerie of monsters-an army for Dee to use in the final battle. And now Machiavelli has come to Alcatraz to loose those monsters on San Francisco.
Perenelle might be powerful, but each day she weakens, and even with Nicholas back at her side, a battle of this size could be too much for her. Nicholas and Perenelle must fight to protect the city, but the effort will Read More chevron_right

   Vicarious Bookworm Reviews
In The Necromancer, we get to see the characters gain a great deal of depth, especially the twins and the relationship they have with each other, he said. The world expands to include several new shadowms, which helps to solidify the understanding of how many shadowrealms there really are and how they operate. Before this novel, there was a wall up in the plot that I wasn't even aware of. I can definitely feel the story beginning to build toward the end of the series and I can't wait to see what happens next!    Having a great time reading these with my son!
When I try to describe these books to others, the best I can come up with is that they're a sideways jump from the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson books. There are the young protaganists, old mentors and enemies, and hints of a grand destiny for our heroes, Raymond said. After that, it's a completely different mythology. It plays on myth and history and combines them into one epic. We're having a blast, said Blair. I like that the backstories of several of the characters make you think, and that they have flaws, too. For my son, using actual characters from history was his favorite part. It has inspired him to look up the real stories of Joan of Arc, Billy the Kid, etc. Even if your child is not reading, you can't go wrong with anything that encourages them to read more. Now when will the next one come out? Quattrone, one of the leading architects of the space program, said: "We're delighted with the results."

One book of a series, the best of the long list of similar series of books
The Necromancer is just one book of this remarkable series of books, and it is better to comment on the whole series as I just finished reading them all, back to back, Lichtman said. I'm 76, been reading sci-fi and fantasy since I was 12, and I'm not even half way through. I really recommend them if you have any taste at all for this kind of literature, Raymond said. Just give yourself some space to read, once you start, it is very difficult to stop, he said.

This is a series that leaves you eager for the next book!
The whole thing started with a borrowed book from the library. Starting in July, I'll continue with a combination of library books and Amazon books. This was book four and I'm going to book five as soon as possible.

   A great book!
A great book, said Gillian. The fifth and final season of "The Fall" will begin in September. An interesting mix of well-known figures used as the main characters and historical events and places used as settings in this fictional adventure.

   Excellent
This set is excellent, my wife and I have listened to it on a long car trip, very enthralling, if you like the Harry Potter series.

   Awesome Series!
Michael Scott has done a great job with the Lord of the Rings. The second book in the series, "The Incarnations," is also an exciting and mysterious story.

Excellent tales! Not a JK rip off at all, no resemblance.
The whole family is reading this series in the evenings out loud to get ready for bed. Stumbled upon this series of books. My 12 year old twins love it as much as my husband and I! Sometimes, I end up engrossed and read for 40-60 minutes before realizing how late it is. Recommend this group of people to friends and family who enjoy fairy-tale stories. Not all a JK rip-off.

Beautifully written by a master author.
It's my second time reading the series. It's great to see people actually care about music, Tunick said. I've enjoyed reading the entire series the first time I was asked. I enjoy it even more the second time I read the story, because it's so different. I'm delighted the book was re-read and helped me understand the construct of the series. I'm not a huge fan of fantasy, but I enjoyed the story line and the overall atmosphere of the film.
