   Great for any cook
Like everything from America's Test Kitchen, this is an excellent book. The quality is extremely good, the binding is glued, not stitched. The paper is heavy and glossy, and everything has photos. This would be an exceptional book for a beginner cook, but is great for any level.

   Excellent book for cooks!
I really appreciate this informative how-to manual for cooking for all things, by a brand I trust. Well illustrated with step-by-step instructions, step-by-step instructions, with helpful recipes throughout. Very pleased ''.

Essentially is slapped together magazine articles. Content not easily digestible.
I have returned this book because the content appears to be from glued together magazine articles of the kind you might find in the grocery store checkout counter. They took a pile of these mini-book articles and slapped them together into a big book they declared to be a cohesive whole unit -- a book. The formatting is crowded and unappealing on the page. The quality of the photos is atrocious and every photo series is only 3 photos long and they are small enough that there is very little detail -- not close enough to actually discern any much detail. A lot of written info is useful but information is not really *usable' and digestible when it is not well organized and when quality supporting material is just not there in the quantity needed.

   Fantastic Cookbook
I own over a hundred cookbooks, so believe me when I tell you that this particular book is outstanding in every respect. I have taken cooking classes over the years, but the information contained in this book are very comprehensive and explain why they are doing a particular step. It is basically a cooking school in a book. I can 't afford to go to a cooking school, but now I don 't have to, since I have this book. If you are a semi-professional chef or a novice cook, you will enjoy this book for many years to come. I have been cooking at home for over 60 years and I have already learned a lot from this book.

   Numerous useful tips
A beautiful coffee table cookbook with many useful tips. I highly recommend it for those who are new to cooking. Cooks who are experienced will probably find it helpful. I have been cooking for six decades and learned a few things.

   You Never Stop Learning!!
What a fantastic book!! What a fantastic book! My best friend turned me on to the folks at ATK and I HOOKED!!! I purchased the hardback because I like to write on dog-ear pages and scribble in them. I love the way they teach the basics, give you pro tips and have several delicious recipes to go with each lesson. It weighs a ton, but I carry it with me all the time! America's Test Kitchen thanks you for testing America's test kitchen! ! !

I used to respect America's Test Kitchen
Under Christopher Kimbal, America's test kitchen really thrived. The books they produced were amazing. The books they produced were amazing. At best, this book is mediocre. The beginning of each section has a picture of one of the course instructors in a half-page blue box of text. The same picture appears in the book of each instructor in the front matter of the book, the same picture that appears early in the book of each instructor in the book. When they were still good books, the old books had large sections talking about why recipes worked, how they could go wrong and how to fix them if they did. This book has a few sparse sections on the science of it on the science. There doesn't really seem to be any part of the book that is actually sets itself apart from other cookbooks to make this into a cooking school cookbook, as it claims to be. I'm completely underwhelmed by this book ''. It gets two stars though, because it does have a good collection of simple yet boring recipes that rehash all the well known American food and Americanized versions of foreign food. It gets two stars though, because it does have two stars.

   Missing content
Missing content. The information for the 2 months back cooking class should be on the free flap. It only has 658 pages, but says it has 680.
